*Kulgam Police solved Hit and Run Case; Accused involved in commission of crime arrested, vehicle seized*

*August 31* : On 24-08-2025, at Nipora near Grid Station, a pedestrian Smt. Zeba Banoo W/o Gh. Hassan Sheikh R/o Zainpora, Shopian was hit by an unknown vehicle and later she succumbed to her injuries at SKIMS Hospital. Subsequently, a case under relevant sections of Law was registered at Police station Qazigund and a special team led by IC PP Mirbazar was constituted.

By using all available means, Investigating team made strenuous efforts and today traced the offending vehicle JK03G-8092 along with its juvenile driver. Furthermore, It was revealed that the boy, being a minor without licence, was driving the vehicle, and thereafter, in connivance with his father Zahoor Ahmad Shah S/o Bashir Ahmad Shah R/o Pirkhoo, Anantnag, attempted to conceal the vehicle and tamper with evidence. The broken side mirror and damaged fender, which has been replaced to mislead the probe, were recovered during investigation.

With the help of CCTV footage, witness accounts and technical investigation, the case was worked out in a short span of time, establishing offences under relevant provisions of BNS and MV Act.

Kulgam police reiterates its commitment to ensure swift investigation and accountability in all such cases.

JKTA/JKECC District Kulgam Expresses Heartfelt Condolences

Kulgam, August 31, 2025 – The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Association (JKTA) and Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC), District Kulgam, are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden demise of the elder brother of Mr. Mubarak Ahmad Wani.

This tragic loss has left all of us devastated, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Wani and his entire family. Words cannot truly capture the pain of such a profound loss, but we want Mr. Wani to know that our thoughts and prayers are with him during this unimaginably difficult time.

We pray to Almighty Allah to grant eternal peace and heavenly abode to the departed soul. May Allah also bestow strength, patience, and fortitude upon the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

With profound grief and sorrow, we inform the sad demise of the mother of Dr. Syed Masood, Superintendent, District Hospital Kulgam.

The Nimaz-e-Jinazah (funeral prayer) will be held sharp at 2:00 PM at her native place.

Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation Drive Against Child Labour Conducted in Kulgam

Kulgam, August 30:
As part of the Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation of Child Labour Drive initiated by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, a special enforcement-cum-awareness operation was carried out in District Kulgam under the supervision of the District Administration and Labour Department.

The drive aimed at identifying, rescuing, and rehabilitating children engaged in hazardous and non-hazardous labour practices. Multiple teams comprising officers from the Labour Department, Child Protection Unit, child welfare committee conducted surprise inspections at workshops, roadside establishments and markets.

DDC Kulgam reviews department wise works of District Capex

Directs to improve desired physical & financial progress of approved works.

KULGAM AUGUST 28

To review the progress of works under the District Capex Plan for the ongoing year (2025-26) in the district, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS) today chaired a meeting in the meeting hall of Mini-Secretariat.

The DDC took department wise progress of physical and financial achievements of ongoing public works in the district.

During the review meeting, DDC emphasized the need for efficiency in the project lifecycle, urging officials to expedite the ex*****on process and complete the works within time.

He instructed officials to prioritize the estimations of already identified works in different schemes including Distt Capex, PRI, and CDF with significant public benefits, and immediately improve physical and financial progress.

The District Capex Plan includes various development projects, such as roads, bridges, paths, approach roads, drainages, playgrounds, irrigation works and public buildings including schools, health centres, improvement in LT/HT Network, Sub Stations and toilets for schools.

The review meeting was attended by CPO Malik Suheel,
ACD, Bilal Kamgar, and various district and sectoral officers.

MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today conducted a comprehensive review meeting at Dak Bungalow Kulgam, focusing on the performance and progress of various departments, including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and others.

During the meeting, departmental officers presented detailed briefings on ongoing schemes, achievements, and key challenges. The MLA emphasized the need for timely and effective implementation of welfare schemes at the grassroots level to ensure that maximum benefits reach the intended population.
