DC Kulgam chairs a meeting of Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) at DC Office Kulgam

KULGAM July 22:The district-level meeting on Bharat Scouts and Guides was held today in the Office Chamber of DC Office Complex, Kulgam under the Chairmanship of DC Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan .

During the meeting, the Secretary gave a brief about the activities of the Bharat Scouts and Guides in Kulgam. DC Kulgam who is also the ex-officio President of the Bharat Scouts and Guides in the district spoke about the importance and the key role that scouts and guides can play and passed on directions to increase the Participation and involvement of Scouts and guides in the district. To launch membership drives and to encourage more and more students and youth to become Scouts and guides.
It was further directed that regular meetings will be conducted on a quarterly basis to ensure the smooth functioning and expansion of scouting activities in the district. Kulgam district will also organize a district-level Scouts and Guides camp in Kulgam next month to promote discipline, leadership, and youth engagement.

The meeting had a thread bare discussions regarding the calendar activities and strengthening the BSG at district level.

The meeting was attended by ADC Kulgam, ASP Kulgam, Dy CEO, and a representative from DYSSO, along with members of Bharat Scouts and Guides Kulgam.

*Need to arrest "big fish" to curb drug menace in J&K: Minister Sakina Itoo*

Srinagar, July 21 : Minister Sakina Itoo Monday said that there was a need to arrest "big fish" to control drug menace in Jammu and Kashmir in order to save the future generation.

Speaking to reporters, Minister Itoo, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said drug menace is a sensitive issue and "we have to save our future generation. In order to make Kashmir a drug free society, it is a collective responsibility of every stakeholder and community," she said.

The minister said that only health and police department can't control the issue of drug menace. "There is a need to catch the big fish. Arresting only those committing the crime at lower level won't help in controlling the drug menace".

"If we have to eradicate the Drug menace in Kashmir, we all should take this responsibility. Until and unless, we all take up the responsibility, we won't succeed in it. The government and police are doing their job."

She further said the community and religious clerics should play an important role to help curb this menace—(KNO)
