Budgam, May 26:

In continuation of the investigation into FIR No. 139/2026 of Police Station Budgam pertaining to the murder of a minor girl from village Galwanpora, Budgam Police has completed the initial medico-legal, forensic, and evidentiary procedures connected with the arrest of the accused in the case.

The identity and particulars of the accused were not disclosed earlier as several crucial legal procedures were underway at the initial stage of investigation and to avoid any prejudice to the evidentiary and legal process.

Upon completion of the requisite formalities, the particulars of the accused involved in the commission of the crime are hereby disclosed as:

Mudasir Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Nabi Mir, R/o Galwanpora Sebdan, Budgam.

The investigation conducted so far has established that no other individual is involved in the commission of the crime.

Budgam Police appeals to the public to maintain peace, communal harmony, and public order and to cooperate with the investigating agencies. Citizens are advised not to take the law into their own hands and not to circulate rumours, speculative content, or unverified allegations regarding the case failing which strict legal action shall be taken.

Media organisations and social media users are requested to exercise responsibility and restraint while reporting or commenting on the matter. The circulation of unverified or misleading content may create unnecessary public anxiety and adversely affect the maintenance of law and order.

Budgam Police further reiterates that any attempt to spread misinformation, incite unrest, or disturb public order through any platform shall be dealt with strictly in accordance with law.

DG YSS Felicitates Rajesh Dhar on Appointment as Team India Manager

Jammu, May 26th (CNS): Director General of Youth Services and Sports, Anuradha Gupta, on Tuesday felicitated Rajesh Dhar following his appointment as Administrative Manager of the Indian Menโ€™s Cricket Team for the upcoming Afghanistan series in June 2026.

The series includes a one-off Test match at Mullanpur and three ODIs in Dharamshala, Lucknow, and Chennai. Congratulating Dhar, the DG said the department takes pride in his achievement and will continue to encourage talented sportspersons and officials.

Srinagar, May 26 (JKNS): Continuing its aggressive crackdown against narcotics trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached immovable property worth nearly โ‚น1 crore belonging to an alleged notorious drug peddler in south Kashmirโ€™s Anantnag district.

As per news agency JKNS, Police has attached an immovable property belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Anantnag district in connection with a narcotics case registered in Srinagar.

The attached property is a residential house belonging to Aamir Hassan Mir S/o Ghulam Hassan Mir R/o Bonpora Dupatyar, Bijbehara, constructed over land bearing Khasra No. 134 situated at Bonpora Dupatyar, Bijbehara, Anantnag. The property has an estimated market value of approximately โ‚น1 Crore.

The action was carried out under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 17/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Shergari, Srinagar.

The attachment proceedings were executed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Bijbehara, after completion of all due legal formalities. The said property shall neither be sold, transferred nor otherwise dealt with without prior permission of the competent authority.

Srinagar Police reiterates its firm commitment towards dismantling narcotics networks and taking stringent legal action against individuals involved in drug trafficking and related activities.

Police also appeals to the general public to cooperate and share any information related to drug peddling or narcotics networks so as to help build a drug-free society. (JKNS)

*DGP, IGP, top officials reach Gulmarg after 300 tourists stranded in Gandola*

Srinagar, May 25 (KNO): Director General of Police, J&K, IGP Kashmir and other top officials have reached Gulmarg to oversee the rescue operations after over 300 tourists were stranded mid-air following a technical issue that halted Gulmarg Gandola service in the afternoon.

An official told news agencyโ€”Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that rescue operations were underway to assist the stranded tourists in one of world's highest cable car services at the famous ski-resort Gulmarg.

He said that DGP Nalin Pranhat, IGP Kashmir V K Birdi and other top officials reached Gulmarg to oversee the rescue operations.

He added that Army officials, including Maj Gen Punit Doval (HAWS), GoC 19 Div Maj Gen Manoj Dattatrey Joshi, 79 Mtn BDE Commander Brigadier MB singh and CO 09 Raj Rifles Col. SK Yadav have also left for Gulmarg.
