Kupwara Army Recruitment Shifted to High Ground Anantnag, Locals Call It Unfair

Kupwara district was set to host an Army recruitment rally at Panzgam. Many unemployed youth and local vendors were preparing for it. For several days, small traders like tea stall owners and food sellers were expecting some income from the event.

However, recent news confirmed that the recruitment rally has been shifted from Panzgam, Kupwara to High Ground, Anantnag.

This sudden change has upset many people in Kupwara. They believe this decision is unfair and has caused disappointment among job seekers and locals who were depending on the rally for temporary employment.

Residents are urging authorities to reconsider the decision. They are also asking people to spread awareness about this issue so that the voices of Kupwara’s unemployed youth can be heard.

Police Commemoration Day Observed at DPL Kupwara

Police Commemoration Day was observed at District Police Lines Kupwara to honour the valiant martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

The ceremony began with the Shaheedi Divas Parade, inspected by SSP Kupwara Shri Al Tahir Gilani, who also took the salute and read out the Roll of Honour, paying tribute to the fallen heroes. Contingents from District Police Kupwara, CRPF, Armed Police and Border Battalion participated, with Shri Raghav Choudhary as Parade Commander.

A wreath-laying ceremony followed at the Martyrs’ Memorial, where floral tributes were offered and gifts distributed among the families of martyrs as a token of gratitude.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kupwara reiterated the commitment of J&K Police to uphold peace, security and public service while honouring the supreme sacrifices of its brave personnel.

*Police Commemoration Day Observed in Police District Handwara*

Handwara, October 21, 2025.
To honor and remember the supreme sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty across the country, Police Commemoration Day was observed with solemnity and respect at District Police Lines Handwara.

On this occasion, SSP Handwara along with DySP PC Hqrs Handwara, DySP DAR Handwara, CAPF Officers and other officers and officials from Handwara police participated in the event. Besides, members of the civil society, retired police officers, and families of police martyrs also attended the ceremony.

Floral tributes were paid to the martyrs of police forces who laid down their lives in the service of the nation, followed by the observance of two minutes of silence in their memory.

During the function, contingents of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF offered a ceremonial salute to the martyrs symbolizing respect and remembrance for the fallen heroes.

On the occasion, SSP Handwara read out the names of martyrs from across the country who have made the ultimate sacrifices while safeguarding the nation, and paid rich tributes to their courage and valor.

The event concluded with the laying of wreaths and showering of flowers by officers, officials, guests, and family members at the Martyrs’ Memorial, DPL Handwara.

As a mark of respect and solidarity, SSP Handwara distributed gifts among the NOKs (Next of Kin) of Police Martyrs, and also patiently listened to their grievances. He assured that all pending issues related to J&K Police Martyrs’ families will be taken up for appropriate redressal on priority basis.

Handwara Police remains committed to honoring the sacrifices of its brave personnel and ensuring continuous support to their families.
