Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs Kupwara Police apprehended two persons during a naka checking at Tekipora near Eid-Gah falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sogam.

During the naka checking a police party from PS Sogam intercepted two individuals moving in a suspicious manner. They were identified as (1) Nisar Ahmad Magray son of Abdul Gaffar Magray resident of Wani Doursa and (2) Arshid Ahmad Khan son of Mohd M***a Khan resident of Tekipora.

Upon their personal search charas-like substance wrapped in green polythene was recovered from their possession. In this connection Case FIR No. 56/2025 under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sogam and investigation has been taken up.

Continuing its drive against drug menace Kupwara Police today apprehended a lady with contraband substance during a routine naka checking at Main Chowk Kralpora near the Tehsil Office.

During the course of naka checking police personnel noticed a woman moving in a suspicious manner from Main Market Kralpora towards Sonthipora village. On being asked to stop the lady attempted to flee from the spot however she was tactfully apprehended by the alert naka party. With the assistance of a lady constable present at the naka she was identified as Meema Begum wife of Nazir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Kralpora .

During her personal search conducted by the lady constable a charas-like substance was recovered from her possession. In this regard Case FIR No. 94/2025 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and investigation has been set into motion.

Kupwara Police remains committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from the society.Pubkic cooperation is solicited.
