A Sporting Spectacle: 9th District Kupwara Rugby 7’s Championship 2025 Concludes in Grand Style
Kupwara, June 26, 2025 – Kupwara roared with pride and passion as the 9th District Kupwara Rugby 7’s Championship 2025 came to a thrilling close at the iconic Galizoo Stadium. Over two electrifying days, the district witnessed an inspiring display of determination, discipline, and raw talent as young athletes battled for glory in one of North Kashmir’s fastest-growing sports – Rugby 7s.
The closing ceremony was a celebration of effort, excellence, and empowerment. Mr. Mohd Amin graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, with Mr. Abdul Rashid War and Mr. Bashir Ahmad from the DYSSO Kupwara Activity Section attending as Guests of Honour. Their encouraging words and presence added prestige to the event and uplifted the spirits of the young players.
In his address, Mr. Mohd Amin praised the championship as a symbol of youth energy and collective ambition. “Kupwara’s youth are writing a new chapter in sports history. This is not just about matches; it’s about shaping champions of tomorrow—on the field and in life,” he said.
With more then 18 teams competing across various age groups, the tournament showcased not just competition, but a celebration of unity, diversity, and empowerment through sport. The cheering crowds, thrilling finishes, and exceptional team spirit reminded everyone why sports are such a powerful force in society.

Amid the fierce competition, selectors had their eyes on the prize: the J&K State Rugby Championship 2025. The best talents were handpicked to represent Kupwara at the state level, marking a crucial milestone in the journey of several promising young athletes.
The District Kupwara Rugby Association extended heartfelt gratitude to the J&K Sports Council, Youth Services & Sports Department Kupwara, dedicated volunteers, coaches, referees, and supporters whose behind-the-scenes work made this event not just possible, but spectacular.
