Engineer Rashid, the incarcerated Member of Parliament from Baramulla, reportedly narrowly escaped a potentially fatal attack inside Tihar Jail. According to his lawyer, Adv. Javeed Hubbi, Er Rashid revealed during a legal meeting that Tihar authorities have placed HIV-positive male eu**ch inmates in the same barracks as Kashmiri prisoners, allegedly to harass, provoke, and attack them.

In a recent incident, a group of these inmates allegedly pushed and threw a gate at Er Rashid, missing him narrowly. The attack could have been deadly had it hit him directly. Other Kashmiri inmates, including Ayoub Pathan, Bilal Mir, Amir Gojri, and Arshid Tanch, were also reportedly harassed and humiliated, especially during prayer times.

Er Rashid claims this is part of a deliberate and systematic campaign, possibly backed by notorious gangsters inside the jail, to target Kashmiri detainees over the past three months.AIP has called for an independent investigation.
