Fact about BMW history
Here's an interesting fact about BMW's history:
BMW, or Bayerische Motoren Werke, was originally founded in 1916 as Rapp Motorenwerke, a manufacturer of aircraft engines. After World War I, the company was forced to cease aircraft engine production due to the Treaty of Versailles. In 1923, BMW shifted its focus to motorcycle production, introducing its first motorcycle, the R32. In 1928, BMW began producing automobiles, with the Dixi, a licensed version of the Austin 7, being its first car. During World War II, BMW produced aircraft engines again, but also developed the first jet engine, the BMW 003. After the war, BMW faced financial difficulties but eventually rebounded, introducing its first post-war car, the 501, in 1952. The rest, as they say, is history!
