Kargil Delegation Discusses Kargil transport issue with honble Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh
New Delhi, [08.02.2022] — A delegation from Kargil, led by honble Member of Parliament Shri Mohd Hanifa Jan, along with Abdul Wahid, honble Councillor from Bhimbet, Drass, and prominent representatives of the Kargil and leh Transport Union, Advocate Mr. Reyaz Ahmad and Mr. Idrees Ahmad, met with Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh to address the critical issue of the Kargil transport Union vehicle. The delegation highlighted the severe challenges faced by the transport operators due to the restrictive permit policies, which have impeded the free movement of vehicles in Defense and other sectors in Ladakh. Mr Rajnath gave a patience hearing on the pressing issue and assured to do the need full.

Following the discussion, the delegation submitted a detailed memorandum outlining several key demands for the development of Drass Sub-Division, including:
1. Special Tourism Package to promote winter and summer sports tourism in Drass.
2. Relaxation of Construction Permits near Army establishments to address local housing issues.
3. Tourism Development in Botokul Valley and the Drass-Gurez road.
4. Increased Wages for Porters working under extreme conditions for the Army.
5. Construction of tunnel from dandal to khumbathang
The delegation expressed sincere gratitude for the continued support of the Army and called for immediate action on these pressing issues to enhance the welfare and development of the people of Drass.
The Hon’ble Minister assured the delegation that needful will be done on this issues.
