What if real education didn’t happen in a classroom?

In Yasato, Ibaraki, Naoki created a unique program where children reconnect with nature and themselves.

Twice a month, 15–20 kids come from across Japan to spend time in nature.

They learn life skills, experience traditional culture, play with animals, and explore the natural world.

At first, they may feel nervous…
but soon, curiosity takes over—and they come alive.

Maybe what children truly need is not more instruction—
but more freedom to explore.

From 50 kids in the first year to over 200 today.

Nature itself is the classroom.

Why would a young out-of-college girl choose to be a shepherdess? Tsering Ladol shares her visceral experience with us.

As written in our friend Yumi Sato’s .playpray recent article, Helena Norberg-Hodge’s “50 Years of Work, is Now Bearing Fruit Among Ladakh’s Youth.” Tsering Ladol is one of them, and not only that, she’s on a path to inspire more people, old and young, ladakhis and non-Ladakhis to connect with animals and humanize them.

“In the traditional culture, the villagers - old and young - would bring their animals to graze at the high pastures in the summer. That was the most wonderful experience. I have never seen happier, healthier people. It was so beautiful...” ~ Helena Norberg Hodge.

From waking up at 6… to walking 10 km in the mountains.

This is not a “routine” — this is a life of Ladol a Young shepherdess in Ladakh.

Every morning begins with milking cows and goats, packing food, and then a long journey into the mountains. Hours are spent staying alert, protecting the herd, and living in harmony with nature.

No shortcuts. No distractions. Just responsibility, resilience, and a deep connection to the land.

In a world of convenience, this way of life reminds us what it truly means to live with purpose.

Would you be able to do this every day?

Everything is interconnected

Modern society taught us to break the world into pieces to understand it.

But Ladakh’s Buddhist wisdom teaches the opposite:

Nothing exists alone. Everything is interconnected.

And when we forget this… we create the crises we face today.

but through physical strength, confidence, and self-defense.

Our guest Shenaz Parveen is working on the ground in Ladakh to create safe training spaces for women, promote grassroots sports development, and inspire youth to embrace an active lifestyle.

As a Football Coach and sports leader, she believes:

A strong society begins with strong women.
