A satellite is an object in space that orbits or circles around a bigger object. There are two kinds of satellites: natural (such as the moon orbiting the Earth) or artificial (such as the International Space Station orbiting the Earth).
A satellite is a moon, planet or machine that orbits a planet or star. For example, Earth is a satellite because it orbits the sun. Likewise, the moon is a satellite because it orbits Earth. Usually, the word "satellite" refers to a machine that is launched into space and moves around Earth or another body in space.
Earth and the moon are examples of natural satellites. Thousands of artificial, or man-made, satellites orbit Earth. Some take pictures of the planet that help meteorologists predict weather and track hurricanes. Some take pictures of other planets, the sun, black holes, dark matter or faraway galaxies. These pictures help scientists better understand the solar system and universe.
Still, other satellites are used mainly for communications, such as beaming TV signals and phone calls around the world. A group of more than 20 satellites make up the Global Positioning System, or GPS. If you have a GPS receiver, these satellites can help figure out your exact location.

-The acceleration produced in a body due to the force of gravity is called Acceleration due to gravity (g) and its value is 9.8 m/s2.
-Acceleration due to gravity is independent of the shape, size and mass of the body.
-Escape velocity is the minimum velocity with which an object just crosses the earth's gravitational field and never returns. Escape velocity at the earth's surface is 11.2 km/s.
-Escape velocity at the moon's surface is 2.4km/s. Due to low escape velocity, there is no atmosphere on the moon.
- The value of g decreases with height depth from the earth's surface.
- g is maximum at poles.
- g is minimum at the equator.
- g decreases due to the rotation of the earth.
- g decreases if the regular speed of the earth increases if the angular speed of the earth decreases.
- The acceleration due to gravity at the Moon is one-sixth that of the earth. So, the weight of a person on the surface of the Moon will be one-sixth of his actual weight on the earth.

Gravity, also called gravitation, in mechanics, is the universal force of attraction acting between all matter. It is by far the weakest known force in nature and thus plays no role in determining the internal properties of everyday matter.

power is the amount of energy transferred or converted per unit of time. In the International System of Units, the unit of power is the watt, equal to one joule per second. In older works, power is sometimes called activity. Power is a scalar quantity.
SI unit: Watt
Types
There are four main types of power transmission – mechanical, electric, hydraulic and pneumatic.
The most common mechanical power transmission methods in use in the engineering industry today are:
Shaft couplings.
Chain drives.
Gear drives.
