🚨 Delhi: AAP MLAs to take oath on February 24, LoP announcement after that, says Gopal Rai
🚨 JUST IN: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has transitioned to opposition in the Delhi assembly for the first time following their defeat to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recent elections. As the Delhi assembly session is set to commence on February 24, all attention is focused on the Leader of Opposition (LoP) position, which has yet to be declared by Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP. Gopal Rai, a senior leader and one of the few successful candidates from the Party, shared that AAP MLAs will take their oaths on February 24, after which the LoP announcement will follow.
Delhi leader of opposition: AAP holds meeting
Gopal Rai informed that AAP leaders convened a meeting with the state office bearers of all party organisations this past Saturday to initiate the restructuring of the main wing. He emphasized that AAP is ramping up its preparations to effectively assume the role of a strong and constructive opposition.
In the meeting, Gopal Rai stated that AAP is taking proactive steps to ensure that their legislative party actively voices concerns in the House. In addition, the societal wings of the party will be tasked with advocating for promises outlined in the government's manifesto. The restructuring will encompass various AAP divisions. The oath-taking ceremony for the elected MLAs will take place on February 24, with the LoP announcement following shortly after.
In the recent elections, several top AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, faced defeat. However, key leaders such as former Chief Minister Atishi, along with ministers Gopal Rai, Mukesh Ahlawat, and Imran Hussain, managed to secure their seats.
Delhi assembly session
The upcoming Delhi Assembly session kicks off on February 24 with the oath-taking of the new members, followed by the election of the Speaker. According to the official bulletin, the ceremony is scheduled for 11 am, while the Speaker’s election will take place at 2:00 PM. This event is crucial for establishing the legislative leadership for the upcoming term. On February 25, the Lieutenant Governor is set to address the House.
