💰 Heavy Toll. Poor Infrastructure. Who Is Responsible?

Ladhowal Toll Plaza near Ludhiana is known as one of Punjab’s costliest toll plazas — with car users currently paying ₹235 for a single journey.

But the condition of the Sutlej Bridge and the surrounding NH-44 stretch is raising serious concerns. The bridge has visible damage and commuters are questioning why proper repair and maintenance work appears to be missing or minimal despite the heavy toll being collected.

॥ राम राम ॥

The Punjab Youth Run 2026 is heading to Bathinda on Sunday, September 13, continuing the AAP Punjab Youth Wing’s campaign linking sports and physical fitness with its anti-drug awareness message. The official registration listing confirms a 5-km run in Bathinda, with participation categories ranging from under-19 runners to those aged 50 and above.
According to the promotional poster, the Bathinda run will be held near Power House Road Red Light, PUDA Market, under the message “Say No to Drugs.” The poster identifies cyclist and fitness enthusiast Fateh Pal Singh Malhi as the event ambassador. I could independently confirm the event, date and Bathinda location, although Malhi’s ambassador role and the precise starting point currently appear primarily in the organiser’s promotional material rather than separately indexed reporting
The official event listing says participants are divided into Under-19, 19-35, 35-50 and 50+ categories, with separate male and female categories where applicable. Cash prizes range from ?11,000 for first place to 72,100 for fifth place in each category, while registered participants are listed to receive an event T-shirt, finisher medal and refreshments.
Participation is restricted to residents of Punjab and Chandigarh, with valid residence proof required.
The Bathinda event follows earlier Punjab Youth Run programmes organised by the AAP Youth Wing, including a
5.5-km Mohali run in August that drew participants across age groups. Youth Wing president Manjinder Singh Lalpura had announced that similar runs would subsequently be organised in Bathinda, Amritsar, Patiala and Ludhiana to promote fitness and a drug-free lifestyle.
