Shathi Daily, is the first Kannada daily newspaper of Kodagu established in 1957 by late BS Gopalakrishna. With the motto, 'ನ್ಯಾಯಪಾಲನೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಯುಕ್ತಿ, ನ್ಯಾಯದರ್ಶನ ನಮ್ಮ ಶಕ್ತಿ', the newspaper has been giving strength and voice to the people of Kodagu ever since. Always abiding by the truth and publishing first-hand news, the paper has managed to win the hearts of the people of Kodagu and has now success

fully stepped into its 66th year. Today, it is managed by sons of late BS Gopalakrishna -

Chief Editor - G Rajendra
Consultant Editor - BG Ananthashayana

The other two sons, passed on souls, of Late BS Gopalakrishna - Yedumani and Sandhya - have lent their best hands in the upbringing of 'Shakthi'.

ಮಡಿಕೇರಿ, ಆ. ೧೩: ಕಳೆದ ಕೆಲವು ದಿನಗಳಿಂದ ತೀವ್ರ ಚರ್ಚೆಗೆ ಗ್ರಾಸವಾಗಿ ವ್ಯಾಪಕ ವಿರೋಧಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗಿದ್ದ ರಾಜಾಸೀಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಗ್ಲಾಸ್ ಬ್ರಿಡ್ಜ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಫುಡ್ ಕೋರ್ಟ್’ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೊನೆಗೂ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರಕಾರ ಕೈ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಕುರಿತು ‘ಶಕ್ತಿ’ಗೆ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಮೂಲಗಳು ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಇದನ್ನು ಮಡಿಕೇರಿ ಶಾಸಕ ಡಾ. ಮಂತರ್ ಗೌಡ ಕೂಡ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಾತ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಚೂಣಿ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ರಾಜಾಸೀಟ್ ತನ್ನ ವಾತಾವರಣ, ಪರಿಸರ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಹಂಗಮ ನೋಟದ ಮೂಲಕ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರನ್ನು ತನ್ನತ್ತ ಸೆಳೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಚ್ಚ ಹಸಿರನ್ನು ಹೊದ್ದು ಮಲಗಿರುವ ಈ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂರ್ಯಸ್ತಮಾನ ನೋಡುವುದೇ ಒಂದು ಆಹ್ಲಾದಕರ ಅನುಭವವಾಗಿದೆ. ವಾಯು ವಿಹಾರಕ್ಕಂತೂ ಹೇಳಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದ ಈ ಜಾಗ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರಿಗೂ ಅಚ್ಚುಮೆಚ್ಚು. ಇಂತಹ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ಲಾಸ್ ಬ್ರಿಡ್ಜ್ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಧಕ್ಕೆಯಾಗುವುದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಂದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರಾಕೃತಿಕ ವಿಕೋಪದಂತಹ ಅನಾಹುತಗಳು ಸಂಭವಿಸುತ್ತವೆೆ ಎಂಬ ವಿರೋಧ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಜನರಿಂದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗತೊಡಗಿತ್ತು. ರಾಜಕೀಯವಾಗಿಯೂ ಪರ-ವಿರೋಧದ ಚರ್ಚೆಗೂ ಒಳಗಾಗಿತ್ತು.
