INDIA U-16 GO DOWN FIGHTING AGAINST JAHN REGENSBURG
The 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup bound India U-16 squad, currently on an exposure trip to Germany, went down fighting 2-3 against German opponents SSV Jahn Regensburg in their first exposure match of a two month long tour. The Indian colts staged an impressive comeback in the second half of the game as they gave the German opposition a run for their money by springing back to equal pe***ng after being two goals down at the half way point. However, it was their German counterparts who sealed the game by a penalty in the dying embers of the match. After succumbing to an early 17th minute goal, the Indian colts rattled the crossbar, following an Amarjeet corner kick, which was manipulated by Suresh with extreme shrewdness. Next, the Indian contingent jotted down some exquisite passes and breached the German defensive lines, only to burst the side netting. A penalty kick to Jahn Regensburg resulted in the reflection of the halfway scoreline as 2-0, in favor of the German opposition. The Indian colts attacked from the word go in the second half and showcased attacking fluidity with finesse. Continuity of purpose was bound to deliver results, and in the 55th minute it did, when Boris burst on to the scene and scored sublimely to reduce the deficit of the Indian colts. With momentum on their side, the Indian colts stretched their attacking muscles again and were awarded a penalty, after a trailblazing run by Aman was cut-short by a tackle inside the box. The resulting penalty was coolly converted by Amarjit, bringing the Indian colts to level pe***ng. However as fortune had it Jahn Regensburg capitalized on an awarded penalty in the 69th minute. And at fulltime the scoreline reflected 2-3 in favor of the German opposition.
