⚠️ PUBLIC ADVISORY – RISK OF DROWNING IN WATER BODIES ⚠️

Issued by District Police Baramulla

In light of recent drowning incidents reported across the district and with rising temperatures drawing people—particularly young boys—towards rivers and water bodies for swimming, District Police Baramulla urges all citizens to exercise utmost caution.

The public is hereby advised as follows:

1. Do NOT swim in rivers, streams, canals, or other natural water bodies—these may have strong undercurrents, sudden depth changes, and slippery banks.

2. Parents and guardians are urged to monitor the activities of children and restrict their unsupervised movement near water bodies.

3. Avoid venturing into water bodies under the influence of peer pressure or for recreational purposes.

4. Local residents are requested to report any sighting of individuals attempting to swim or bathe in dangerous water bodies to the nearest police station or dial 112.

Boy Drowns in J-K's Gulmarg

Baramula, July 03 : A 19-year-old boy drowned in a pond at the Children’s Park in Gulmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

The deceased, identified as Tahir from Reasi district, had entered the pond for a bath but drowned due to his inability to swim.

Tahir was working as a driver in Gulmarg and was earning his livelihood in the area.

He was immediately shifted to the Sub-District Hospital in Gulmarg, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
