The Central Committee President of ADSU, Mairing Johori, addressed a press briefing at Maibang Town regarding various long-pending issues affecting the NF Railway's Lumding–Badarpur section.
Among the key demands, the construction of a foot overbridge at Maibang Railway Station was highlighted as a top priority to ensure passenger safety and convenience. In support of their demands, ADSU submitted an ultimatum to the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Lumding Division, through the Station Master of Maibang Railway Station.
The organization urged the railway authorities to take immediate steps to address the concerns and improve railway infrastructure in the region.

Assam Police has officially commended Inspector of Police (UB) , Officer-in-Charge of Maibang Police Station, Dima Hasao district, for his exemplary professionalism and leadership during a successful operation that led to the apprehension of accused individuals and the recovery of illegal arms and ammunition.
According to the commendation issued by the Assam Police Headquarters, the operation resulted in the seizure of an AK-56 rifle, a magazine containing eight live rounds of ammunition, along with other incriminating materials.
The commendation certificate, signed by the Director General of Police, Assam, and dated May 21, 2026, recognizes Inspector Gohain's professional competence, dedication, and commitment to maintaining law and order.

The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), Haflong, has appointed Shri Thongjun Changsan as the Chairman of the Constituency Development Committee (CDC) for the Diger Constituency.
According to an official notification issued by the NCHAC Secretariat on June 2, 2026, the appointment has been made in the public interest following the sudden demise of Shri Hen Samuel Changsan, MAC.
The Council stated that the appointment aims to ensure the smooth implementation, monitoring, and successful ex*****on of various Central and State Government schemes within the constituency.
The notification was issued by the Principal Secretary of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council and has been circulated to the District Commissioner of Dima Hasao, Heads of Departments, the office of the Chief Executive Member, and other concerned authorities for necessary action.

Sivasagar MLA and Raijor Dal President has strongly reacted to the Assam Government’s decision to suspend the distribution of sugar, salt and Masoor dal through Fair Price Shops from June 1.

Expressing concern over the move, Akhil Gogoi urged the of Assam to continue providing these essential commodities to beneficiaries as was being done before the Assembly elections. He stated that the discontinuation of these subsidized items would adversely affect economically weaker sections and low-income families who depend on the Public Distribution System (PDS).

The Raijor Dal leader also called upon the Chief Minister to fulfill the promise of providing 1 litre of mustard oil to ration card holders, a commitment that was reportedly made during the election campaign if the BJP government returned to power in Assam.

Akhil Gogoi demanded that the government immediately restore the distribution of sugar, salt and Masoor dal and ensure that all promised welfare benefits reach the people without interruption.

The Assam Government has announced the suspension of the distribution of Dal, Sugar, and Salt through Fair Price Shops (Ration Shops) across the state with effect from 1st June.

Beneficiaries are informed that the supply of these three commodities will remain discontinued until further notice. However, the distribution of other eligible essential commodities under the Public Distribution System (PDS) will continue as per existing guidelines.

Residents are advised to contact their nearest Fair Price Shop or concerned authorities for further information.

🚨 Major Accident Averted at Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station

A major mishap was narrowly avoided at Lucknow Charbagh station after a passenger shed reportedly collapsed onto the platform area on Thursday. According to reports, at least two passengers sustained injuries in the incident.

Railway authorities and emergency teams rushed to the spot immediately after the collapse. The injured passengers were provided medical assistance, while officials began an investigation into the cause of the accident.

The incident created panic among passengers present at the station, though a bigger tragedy was thankfully avoided.

Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated peacefully at Umrangso Juma Masjid in Dima Hasao with people offering prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity.

After the prayers, the Masjid Committee shared the true message of Eid, highlighting humanity, love, patience, and respect for others. Keeping communal harmony in mind, the committee announced that only goats will be sacrificed this year in Umrangso and no cow sacrifice will take place.

The committee appealed to all communities to maintain brotherhood and peace, saying festivals should strengthen unity and harmony among people.
