Set in a 343 acre campus on a beautiful hillock at Chelamala (about 10 km away from Perinthalmanna) in the Malappuram district of Kerala, AMU - Malappuram Centre would be giving a much required fillip to the educational scenario in the state. It was established as the Mohammedan Anglo Oriental College (MAO College), in 1875. In 1920, the College was converted into a full fledged University by an a
ct of Parliament. Today, the Aligarh Muslim University is the 5th best University in the Country. The nation wide expansion of AMU in the form of establishment of centres in Kerala and West Bengal is a physical manifestation of the dream of the great founder. This expansion drive of AMU has been hailed by the national media as the "RELAUNCH OF THE ALIGARH MOVEMENT". The campuses have been established under Section 12(2) of the AMU Act 1981. The establishment of the AMU campuses would pave the way for an Educational Renaissance among the people of the respective regions. These campuses are envisioned to become separate universities when AMU would be celebrating its centenary celebrations in 2020. It has a total strength of 300 students, with 2 departments, namely the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Law. There are presently 2 batches for MBA and 3 batches for BA LLB. There are 2 hostels for girls and 5 hostels for boys. With Best Regards,
