New Delhi, July 24, 2025:
The Supreme Court has reserved its order on the Karnataka government’s plea seeking cancellation of bail granted to actor Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case.

A bench comprising Justices J B Pardiwala and R Mahadevan heard arguments from both sides and asked the defense lawyers to submit written arguments within a week.

The plea challenges the Karnataka High Court’s December 13, 2024 verdict granting bail to Darshan, actress Pavithra Gowda, and other accused.

Darshan is accused of abducting and torturing 33-year-old Renukaswamy, who allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra. The victim was allegedly held for three days in a shed, tortured, and later found dead in a drain in Bengaluru.

The top court had earlier issued notices to all accused on January 24, 2025.

Mangaluru, July 24:
Despite setting up a modern cardiac care unit with a cath lab to provide free and affordable heart treatment for poor and middle-class patients, Wenlock District Hospital is still waiting for final government approval to begin operations.

For decades, the people of the district have been demanding such a facility — especially now, as heart attack-related deaths are on the rise. Even with multiple private hospitals and clinics around, quality cardiac care remains inaccessible for many underprivileged families.

When will Wenlock’s heart start beating for the people?

Mangaluru Traffic Update

Vehicular movement between KIOCL Junction and Kulur Arch Bridge on National Highway 66 is severely affected due to ongoing road repair work. This has caused major traffic jams along the Panambur-Kottara stretch, with congestion extending up to Baikampady.

To address the issue, NHAI has announced a complete traffic suspension from 8 pm on July 22 to 8 am on July 25. Due to persistent rainfall, conventional asphalting could not be carried out, so paver block repairs have been initiated.

Alternative routes suggested by Mangaluru City Police:
• Udupi to Bengaluru/Mysuru: Padubidri – Karkala – Moodbidri
• Udupi/Mulki to Mangaluru: Turn left near Mulki Vijaya Sannidhi via Kinnigoli – Kateel – Bajpe – Maravoor – Kavoor
