Mangaluru, Sept 15, 2025:
Mangaluru City North MLA Y. Bharat Shetty has demanded ₹15 crore for filling potholes across his constituency, warning that he would launch protests if the government fails to release the funds immediately.

In his statement, Shetty said several works — including underground drainage, retaining walls, and major district road projects — have come to a halt due to lack of funds.

He added that besides pothole repairs, ₹5 crore is required to concretise the Marakada–Maravoor Road connecting Mangaluru International Airport, ₹14 crore for developing Baikampady Industrial Area roads, and ₹1 crore for the Katipalla–Peddi Angadi Road.

Shetty urged the government to utilise resources from the calamity relief fund, PWD, and RDPR departments. He also alleged that District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao had failed to consult MLAs regarding funds for repairing damages caused by heavy rains.

Karkala, Sept 15, 2025:
A case has been registered at Karkala Rural Police Station against the family members of a deceased woman, following a complaint filed by her husband Chetan, who alleged that her health issues were deliberately concealed before marriage.

Chetan married Vinita, daughter of Karunakar and Kavita Hegde, on December 21, 2018. After moving to Bengaluru, the couple was blessed with a baby boy on December 29, 2022.

According to the complaint, Vinita had vision loss in her right eye and was later diagnosed with brain cancer, conditions that Chetan claims were hidden by her family. Despite medical treatment, Vinita passed away on December 18, 2023.

Chetan further alleged that her family not only concealed her illness to deceive him but also failed to return the gold ornaments and mobile phone given at the time of marriage.
