With the DC office and 30 departments shifting to Praja Soudha, Padil, KSRTC Mangaluru plans to link all new buses to the new location. Senior Divisional Controller Rajesh Shetty said new permits will prioritize routes via Padil, covering areas like Talapady, Surathkal, Moodbidri, and Karkala. This move aims to ease access for commuters who currently need to change buses. The new routing will ensure direct connectivity from multiple parts of Dakshina Kannada to the new administrative hub.

A fresh Covid-19 wave is emerging, with 257 new cases in India, including 8 in Karnataka. The infections are linked to LF.7 and NB.1.8, sub-lineages of the JN.1 variant. Though no severe symptoms have been reported, health officials urge caution. Singapore and Hong Kong are also witnessing surges, with over 14,000 cases in Singapore alone this month. Authorities advise the public to stay vigilant but not panic.

Starting June 16, UPI users can expect significantly faster payment experiences as the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) rolls out key upgrades. Status checks and refund responses will now be processed in just 10 seconds, down from 30. Money transfers via request and response pay will take 15 seconds, while address validation will be completed in 10 seconds. NPCI has directed banks and payment service providers to upgrade systems accordingly. These changes aim to enhance reliability and efficiency, especially after recent technical glitches disrupted services in April, ensuring smoother digital transactions for millions of users.
