Mangaluru City Buses to Operate from Mangaladevi Terminal Soon

City buses in Mangaluru will soon begin operating from the newly built Mangaladevi terminal at Jeppu, helping ease traffic congestion near the temple. The terminal, constructed under the Smart City project and inaugurated in February 2025, has remained unused until now.

Following a recent joint survey, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has decided that buses except those on Route No. 27-will enter the terminal via Jeppu Market instead of stopping in front of the temple. Services are expected to commence once the route notification is issued

The Karnataka Legislative Assembly has passed the Gig Workers’ Welfare Bill, a landmark step to safeguard the rights of app-based workers linked with platforms like Swiggy, Zomato, and Uber. Tabled by Labour Minister Santosh Lad, the bill aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and social security for nearly four lakh gig workers in the state. It provides for a Welfare Board and fund, along with health insurance coverage of up to ₹2 lakh for registered workers. Kadaba Student Handwrites Entire Quran in Five Years

Sajla, a BCom student from Kumbra’s Markazul Huda College, has handwritten the entire 604-page Quran over five years. The manuscript was unveiled at her college by Mudarris Yaseen Sakhafi Al Azhari.

In a remarkable feat, Sajla, a BCom student from Markazul Huda Women’s College, Kumbra, has handwritten the entire Quran using an ink pen. A resident of Baitadka in Kaniyur, Kadaba, she is the daughter of Ismail and Zahra Jasmine. Beginning in January 2021, she completed the work in August 2025, dedicating 2,416 hours over 302 days. The 604-page manuscript, weighing 14 kg, was written on coloured sheets and bound with a red-gold cover. The unveiling ceremony was held at her college, where Mudarris Yaseen Sakhafi Al Azhari released the copy and praised her dedication.
