🚨 Wildlife Crime Busted in Goa! 🦎
Forest officials in Panaji Range raided a workshop at Duler-Mapusa and seized 47 monitor lizard skins and 14 Ghumats illegally made from the skins of this protected species. The monitor lizard is a Schedule I animal under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, offering it the highest level of protection.

The accused was arrested, and shockingly, this isn't his first offense — 15 years ago, he was caught with 960 illegal Ghumats.

Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane has called for strict surveillance to curb such brutal exploitation of wildlife.

We have always demanded that we do not want festivals like Sunburn to take place in Goa. More than festival, what happens at such events is well known to the media and reporters. Right from the beginning, we have opposed such parties, and this has consistently been the stand of the MGP: Min Sudin Dhavalikar

Tourism in Goa needs a lot of factors if Sunburn is not there then somebody else might come in. Sunburn was a yearly event which is done here but it is up to them whether they want to do it here or not; Tourism in Goa is always there, the only thing is we need to explore our culture and traditions. We look at exploring bigger and better ideas for the last quarter to ensure we get tourists of different forms coming to explore Goa in different ways; As far as impact, then no impact is concerned.: Min Rohan Khaunte

MLA Viresh Borkar says, I have never attended Sunburn festival. The decision regarding it is with the govt. Our primary focus is that any event should benefit people and not harm them. Sunburn has two sides, some claim it creates sound pollution while some says, it generates employment. We support whatever people want, if the locals want Sunburn, we will stand by them.: MLA Viresh Borkar
