In the age of BookTok and Bookstagram, it’s easy to feel swept up by the titles everyone seems to be talking about. But widespread hype doesn’t automatically make a book exceptional — it simply reflects what’s trending at the moment. Reading is an intensely personal experience, shaped by individual taste, expectations, and emotional connection. And that’s the beauty of it: we’re not meant to love the same stories.
It’s perfectly valid to feel underwhelmed by a hyped-up book or to deeply cherish a lesser-known one. Quality isn’t defined by popularity; it’s defined by the reader who finds meaning in the pages.
