Knowledge of the Soul
And Huzoor Ghaus-e-Azam shaikh abdul qadir jilani (May Allah be pleased with him)
It is important to know that the soul is related to death and life. Death means separating and taking a person away from his possessions and taking him to a world which is not like this world. It is impossible to uncover the depth of the truth of death because a person who does not know life cannot have knowledge of death from Allah, and knowledge of life is only possible when the essence of the soul and its nature is understood. Allah Ta'ala imparted the knowledge of the essence and nature of the soul to Hazrat Gaus-e-Azam Dastagir (May Allah be pleased with him), due to which the soul and the angel of death Hazrat Azrael (peace be upon him) became visible to him, whereas the angel becomes visible to a person only at the time of death. Hazrat Gaus-e-Pak used to see the soul like we see each other.
Before understanding the miracles that we are describing here, it is important to know what is the belief of miracles in Islam and for which things the word miracle has been used in the Quran.
In Islam, the surprising thing that happens to a prophet or a Sufi saint against nature is called a miracle. In the Quran, the miracle is the verses (signs) of Allah, that is, the action that inclines towards Him or removes Him from others is called a miracle.
If there was no belief of miracles in Islam, then the doors of Wilayat in Islam would also have been closed like the doors of Prophethood. After Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, there would have been no Wali of Allah in Baghdad, Ajmer, Pakpatan. There would have been no Mehboob-e-Ilahi in Delhi, Abul Ola in Agra, Haji Ali in Mumbai, Darbar Sarkar Tajul Aulia Shining in Nagpur. All these are also Wali of Allah and signs of Allah against nature. The amazing things that happen through the awliyas make people incline towards Allah and make them indifferent to other than Him. That is why miracles have a very important place in Islam. Denying miracles from a wali is in a way denying the verses of Allah and His power.
In the miracles of Hazrat Ghaus-e-Azam in Tafrihul Khatir, this miracle of his was described, which is very famous and well known. One of his servants died. His wife came to Hazrat Ghaus-e-Pak crying and said, "O my master (Shaykh), my husband should be alive." He meditated (Muraqaba) and saw that Azrael (peace be upon him) was taking all the souls of that day in his possession and flying towards the sky. He said to Azrael, "Stop and return the soul of my servant so-and-so to me." Azrael replied, "I capture souls by divine (Allah's) order and present them before Him, so how can I give you the soul of the person whom I have taken by divine order?" I have done so. He insisted but the angel of death did not listen and had a basket in one of his hands which contained the souls of that day. Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani snatched the basket of captured souls from the hands of the angel of death due to his (knowledge and power) and popularity. The souls scattered and returned to their respective bodies. Azrael prayed to his Lord, "O Allah, You know what happened between me and Your beloved Abdul Qadir. He has taken away all the souls of today from me." It was said: "O Azrael, Abdul Qadir is my beloved and dear one. Why did you not return the soul of his servant to him? If you had returned that one soul, why would so many souls return because of one soul? This proves that the knowledge of the soul is from the knowledge of the unseen (Ghaib), and if the knowledge of the unseen was only the knowledge of knowing the unseen, then Hazrat Ghaus-e-Azam (RA) would have only known that the soul of his servant was in the hands of the angel of death. You would not have had the power to disperse those souls and return them to their bodies and revive them.
