Rioters set fire many france cities including Paris

France was gripped by nationwide protests on Wednesday as demonstrators clashed with police, blocked roads and set fires in Paris and other cities, intensifying public anger against President Emmanuel Macron and his government.

Authorities confirmed that around 300 people were arrested during the first hours of unrest, as thousands where on the streets under the banner of the “Block Everything” movement.

In the capital, protesters set barricades alight and were dispersed with rounds of police tear gas.
The Macron government had deployed an exceptional 80,000 police officers across the country in an attempt to prevent large-scale disorder. Despite this, protesters erected barricades, lit fires and staged demonstrations across multiple regions.

The protests erupted after a week of political turmoil in France. On Monday, Prime Minister of France lost a parliamentary confidence vote following his announcement of sweeping austerity measures, which included cutting public holidays and freezing pensions. He resigned shortly after the defeat.

President Emmanuel Macron moved quickly, appointing Defence Minister as the new prime minister on Tuesday — the fourth person to hold the post in just 12 months.

The rapid turnover at the top highlighted France’s political instability and fuelled public frustration, with critics accusing Macron of ignoring widespread discontent.
Unions and protest leaders said his resignation did little to ease their concerns. “The fall of the government is good, but it's insufficient,”

France’s finances are in deep trouble:
France’s political crisis is unfolding against a backdrop of worsening public finances. Macron has now appointed his fourth prime minister in a year, while the country grapples with a deficit, rising borrowing costs, and a parliament incapable of agreeing on spending reforms.

Emmanuel Macron, first as an economy minister and later as president, pushed reforms such as tax cuts, spending adjustments, and raising the retirement age from 62 to 64.
But debt had already been high — over 90% of GDP since 2008. The pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine made things worse. France spent heavily on subsidies to protect households and businesses, while interest rates rose sharply worldwide

US President Makes U Turn calls India' s relation very special

US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have reaffirmed their friendship despite current tensions between the two nations. Trump described India-US ties as a "very special relationship" and expressed his desire to maintain a strong bond with PM Modi, stating, He's a great Prime Minister." However, Trump also voiced his disappointment over some of Pm Modi's recent actions, particularly India's purchase of oil from Russia, which led to the US imposing a 50% tariff .

Prime minister Modi responded warmly to Trump's affirmation, expressing deep appreciation and reciprocation of the US President's sentiments and positive assessment of bilateral relations.

He highlighted the forward-looking Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership between India and the US.
The government of United States imposed a 50% tariff on Indian goods due to India's continued purchase of discounted Russian crude.

Recently, the Ministry of External Affairs of India emphasized the importance of the India-US strategic partnership, anchored in shared interests, democratic values, and people-to-people ties.

Actually President Trump's comments came after a controversy surrounding his post on social media, where he said the US had "lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China". he later clarified that he didn't think this had happened.

Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton criticized handling of India-US relations, stating that President Trump's treatment of India has undermined years of bipartisan US efforts to strengthen ties with India.

To a question on how trade talks are going with India and other countries, he said, they are going great with all of them. Earlier, US President sharply criticised the European Union for its whopping 3.5 billion dollar fine on American tech giant Google.

European Commission has announced a fine on Google for anti-competitive practices in the online advertising technology sector.

In the much awaited Alaska summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, United States President Donald Trump expressed confidence in his ability to make concrete progress towards securing a ceasefire in Ukraine at the meeting.

Putin received the red carpet treatment with a lengthy handshake by President Trump as he deplaned at the Joint Base military facility in the Alaska.

The warm greeting set a tone for what were always going to be tough negotiations:
While the meeting was anticipated to take about seven hours, but it wrapped up in less than three hours. Trump and Putin addressed a gathering of journalists after the talks with relatively brief pre-prepared statements. Neither leader took any questions.
Putin said his country is committed to ending the war, but the conflict’s “primary causes” must be eliminated for an agreement to be long-lasting.

Donald Trump praised the “extremely productive meeting”, in which he said “many points were agreed to”, there is a “very good chance of getting there” – referring to a ceasefire – but conceded that there remain sticking points with Moscow, including at least one “significant” one.

The Russian leader has become an increasingly maligned and isolated figure in the West since waging war on Ukraine in 2022.

But on Friday, that ended, with a red carpet welcome, a flypast by US fighter jets and warm applause from Trump.
Before the meeting, it was widely anticipated that Putin would attempt to dilute peace talks with talk of bilateral trade and cooperation.

Trump had asserted that there would be no discussion of business with Putin until the pair had made substantive progress on bringing about a ceasefire in Ukraine.

This plan, actually, seems to have been derailed somewhat, with the Russian president saying in his post-meeting statement that the pair discussed their collaboration in the areas of tech and space.

“It’s clear that US and Russian investment and business cooperation has tremendous potential. Russia and USA can offer each other so much. In trade, digital, high-tech and in space exploration, [and] we see that Arctic cooperation is also very possible,”
Russia has previously tried to pitch its vast reserves of rare earth minerals.

Donald Trump has previously asserted that he hopes to host a trilateral meeting on ending the war in Ukraine very soon, this time attended by Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelenskyy, too. In Alaska, the US leader said he would now call NATO officials and Ukrainian president to discuss the meeting.
