Explosions rocked Tehran and the nearby city of Karaj on Saturday after Israeli airstrikes targeted several fuel storage facilities, sending huge fireballs and thick smoke into the sky. The strikes reportedly hit multiple oil depots in Tehran and Alborz provinces, including the Shahran oil depot in northwestern Tehran and a fuel facility in Karaj. Iran’s Ministry of Oil confirmed the attacks and said emergency teams were working to control the fires, while assuring that fuel supplies would not be affected. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the operation, calling it a “significant strike” and claiming the fuel and energy complexes were being used by Iran’s armed forces as part of their military infrastructure. The incident marks another escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran as both sides continue exchanging strikes across the region.
