Hello! Maddat Mumbai has collaborated with to raise Rs. 1,00,000 to support 1000 s*x workers in Budhwar Peth, Pune by supplying menstrual hygiene products for three months. Each packet contains 16 pads- which costs Rs. 34, thus to support each menstruator we need Rs. 102.

We’ve already collected more than 50% of the target amount and we need more support to reach our goal sooner.

We raised 60,000 out of our target of 1.5 lakhs. The rest of the amount was covered by a lump sum donation.
The patient has recovered and been discharged.

As we advocate for mental health awareness and destigmatization, we must also ensure we take into account how we can do so effectively and responsibly and take humanitarian approaches to do so. We must consider our Indian demographic and opt for innovative, inclusive and rights based approaches so that mental health and psychological methods of intervention can be accessible to all while also making sure it protects and preserves the rights of all persons.

Sixty-one per cent Indians are experiencing mental health-related issues because of the uncertainty and looming financial crisis during the lockdown, said a survey. Conducted by GOQii, the study surveyed over 10,000 Indians and found that 26 per cent respondents were suffering from mild depression, 11% were feeling moderately depressed, and six% were facing severe symptoms of depression. It has become evident that the effects of quarantine and lockdown have only amplified all our problems and the most subtle yet acute and intense has been on our collective and individual mental health.

Most of the sanitary napkins are just thrown in the garbage or flushed down the toilet. It is a huge environmental challenge as these pads take around 500-800 years to biodegrade. Every used sanitary napkin carries approximately two grams of non-biodegradable plastic. So the amount of non-biodegradable plastic accumulated every month is very high, a factor strong enough to raise concern over the crisis which environment is facing currently.

Plastic pollution has reached pandemic levels worldwide, with the colossal amounts of plastic waste posing grave risks to the health of ecosystems both on land and in the oceans. It’s also a threat to human health with micro plastics having permeated our food and water, and even our table salt.
There is little that can be done about the vast amounts of plastic already in the oceans, but we can still do a whole lot to ensure we won’t be adding much more plastic waste to that already out there.

With the increase in the consumption of fast fashion, we are paying a huge environmental cost for every item manufactured. Studies show that the equivalent of one garbage truck is burned or dumped in a landfill every second. Even though the slow fashion movement of ethically and sustainably made clothing has been gaining traction over the past few years, not everyone can afford to spend that much money on a single pair of leggings made from recycled plastic water bottles. Consequently, as more and more people have learned about the negative effects of the fashion industry, more have turned to thrifting, which has dramatically increased in popularity over the recent years.
