While she was a legend for all of India, her connection to the millennial generation has been unique: she wasn’t just a voice from our parents’ radio and the cassettes we got taped, she was a vibrant, active part of our own coming-of-age.
Her voice has been the backdrop to our emotional journey and our love lives.
It still gets deep into my soul, the soulful longing of “Mera Kuch Samaan,” she didn’t just sing songs; she provided the emotional soundtrack for every phase of a millennial’s life—from childhood nostalgia to adult heartbreak.
Today, I am in Bhopal and feel the depth of this loss with a new nostalgic feeling. Her songs are resonating in me time and again.
Eod and I utmost gratitude for being someone born in the era, where we knew her music to our hearts! ♥️ To Asha Tai and her endless legacy!!
