February 2021, we were looking out for a trekking place nearby Mumbai, found a place “Peb Fort(Vikatgad) at Matheran.
We didn’t knew that there was a fort there where we can trek.
So we planned it up, saw some Video’s of Peb Fort & decided to go.
Every video we saw, we mostly come to know that it’s an easy trek, so we went for it.
We packed our bags, took a local from Dadar to Neral, & reached Matheran.
We took the opposite route of Matheran which leads to Peb Fort.
Again, It was February first week, we went to Goa on December last week and it was cold there, so we thought Matheran is a hill station so it should also be pleasant.
We were wrong. We went under prepared, we had only 2 litres of water in total for 3 people.
There are tons of Monkeys there who were ready to sn**ch our bags and food, I wore a sleeveless tshirt(as you can see)
Which cost me burns in my whole skin lasting about a month.
It was so hot but we somehow managed to reached at the top, clicked photos & while returning back, water was over, food was finished, lost all hopes to return back to home, felt like this is it man,
Its a pretty tough trek specially if you’re visiting in summer. NOT AT ALL RECOMMENDED! Please go only on winters & on Monsoons, it was sheer will power that we went back to home safely, we stopped, laid down in the mountain roads for taking rest, but within 5 minutes there were monkey all around us that scared us lol, but the good note was that fear kept pushing us.
It was an Unforgettable experience , but still we are happy because at the end of the day, We had a kickass experience to remember & a great story to share with you all.❤️☺️
Things to keep in mind if you’re planning a trek in Sahyadri Range:
1. Choose a perfect time(monsoons recommended).
2. Carry at least 2 litres of water per person.
3. Beware of Monkey’s they’re everywhere. Lol😂🐒
4. Wear Full outfits(full shirt/ full pants)
5. Carry a sunscreen. Trust me you will need it.
6. Carry sunglasses and start the trek early.❤️
