Sound Tip 01 🎙️

A simple file-naming habit can save hours in sound post.

Most of the time, the alt take exists —
it’s just buried across shooting days, folders, and bad naming habits.

Finding it shouldn’t take 2 hours.
It should take 30 seconds.

Start your file name with the shooting day number.
Day 10 · Scene 70 · Shot 10 · Take 01 → 10-70-10-01

Also, always record into day-wise folders
(Day 01, Day 02, Day 03…)

Now post can instantly know the shooting day
just by looking at the clip name in the DAW.

Post can also:

• Group all takes from the same shooting day
• Instantly find alternate performances
• Find matching words for dialogue replacements
