Chaturmas Begins – A Sacred Journey of Self-Discipline & Devotion
Starting 6th July, the four holy months of Chaturmas mark a period of spiritual reflection, inner purification, and devotion in the Hindu tradition.
What to Do During Chaturmas:
Visit holy places – it's considered highly auspicious
Follow celibacy (Brahmacharya) and adopt a disciplined lifestyle
Read spiritual texts and engage in devotional activities
Worship Lord Vishnu and Tulsi Mata daily
Prefer Sattvic food and sleep on the floor
Many observe fasting or eat only once a day
What Not to Do During Chaturmas:
Avoid Tamasic food like meat, garlic, onion
Refrain from alcohol, smoking, and gambling
Do not perform auspicious ceremonies (marriage, housewarming, etc.)
