Nag Panchami is an important day in the holy month of Shravan devoted to Lord Shiva. And on this day, here's wishing that the Lord showers you with all that you have desired.

Some other facts:

Nagas rule and live in Patal Loka. There are total twelve famous Nagas.

Devi Mansa is the mother of all the Nagas. She is the sister of Vasuki.

It is believed that one who worships snakes on this day gets rid of the fear of serpents and also Rahu-Ketu ill-effects.

When Takshak Nag bit Raja Pariksh*t, his son Janmajeya started Nag Yagya to take revenge from snakes and kill their entire clan.

To protect Nagas, the son of Rishi Jaratkaru, Aastik Muni, stopped this Yajna. The day when he stopped the Yajna is celebrated as Nag Panchmi

Nag Panchmi is also celebrated as the victory of Krishna on Kaliya Naag.

By worshipping snakes, people also try to please Shiv who is adorned by Nagas.

People do not dig the earth this day and offer cow's milk, fried paddy and durva in front of Nag made with mud and sand.
