JAL TARA – A Simple Solution for Water Security and Groundwater Recharge
Jal Tara is an innovative rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge system designed around existing borewells in farms, gardens, orchards, and open landscapes. The system consists of a 15 ft × 15 ft × 4 ft deep pit excavated around the borewell and lined with white geotextile fabric to prevent soil and silt from entering the recharge structure. The pit is then filled with graded stones, allowing rainwater from the surrounding area to naturally percolate into the ground and replenish depleted aquifers.
As rainfall patterns become increasingly unpredictable and groundwater levels continue to decline, Jal Tara offers a practical, low-cost, and sustainable solution inspired by India's traditional wisdom of conserving every drop of rain.

Benefits of Jal Tara for Farmers and Farmlands.

1. Recharges Existing Borewells: Improves groundwater availability and extends the life of borewells.
2. Raises the Water Table: Enhances underground water reserves for future use.
3. Improves Irrigation Security: Ensures better water availability during dry periods and critical crop stages.
4. Supports Higher Agricultural Productivity: Reliable water supply contributes to healthier crops and improved yields.
5. Reduces Surface Runoff and Soil Erosion: Rainwater is captured and absorbed rather than lost.
6. Suitable for Orchards and Fruit Farms: Benefits mango, coconut, guava, citrus, and other plantations that depend on sustained moisture.
7. Enhances Garden Health: Maintains soil moisture and supports lush community and home gardens.
8. Low Maintenance and Cost-Effective: Built using locally available materials with minimal upkeep.
9. Climate Resilience: Strengthens farmers' ability to cope with droughts and changing weather conditions.
Every Drop Counts
By adopting Jal Tara, farmers, institutions, housing communities, and gardeners can transform rainwater from a seasonal challenge into a year-round resource. It is not merely a rainwater harvesting structure—it is an investment in water security, agricultural prosperity, and a sustainable future.

The No Phone Dining initiative encourages restaurants to create meaningful, distraction-free dining experiences. In an era where mobile phones dominate our attention, this initiative invites customers to deposit their phones at the reception and enjoy their meals without digital interruptions. In return, restaurants can offer a 10% discount on the food bill, making the experience both rewarding and refreshing.

By supporting No Phone Dining, restaurants can enhance customer satisfaction, promote real conversations, and build a unique brand identity focused on well-being. Diners become more engaged, mindful, and connected with their companions, leading to a more memorable experience.

This simple yet impactful concept promotes digital detox, mental wellness, and stronger human connections. Restaurants have the opportunity to lead this positive change and redefine dining culture.

Supported by Subhajit Mukherjee Foundation, this initiative aims to transform everyday meals into moments of connection and joy.

"We get our daughters married with pomp and show. But what if the spouse and family turn out to be wrong or do wrong things? Then we should bring our daughters back home with the same respect and dignity because daughters are very precious."

Jharkhand's Prem Gupta wrote on Facebook while sharing the video of the 'baraat' he organised to welcome his daughter back home.

Gupta's daughter was allegedly abused by her in-laws. When he learnt about it, he supported her in filing for divorce and organised a grand baraat to welcome her home.

His video has since sparked a wave of positive comments from netizens, lauding the father's spirit and wishing the daughter well for her new beginning.
