HOW MANY “HEALTHY” TREES MUST FALL BEFORE BMC WAKES UP?
Another tree collapsed today on N.S. Road, Mulund, opposite Bhau Wada Pav.
The tree appears healthy, but its roots appear severely damaged.
This is NOT an isolated incident. On this stretch, 4–5 apparently healthy trees have already collapsed, many located near the recently constructed/redeveloped footpath.
COINCIDENCE? OR A SERIOUS FAILURE OF CIVIC SUPERVISION?
Who carried out the work?
Who supervised it?
Were the tree roots adequately protected?
Was any inspection conducted?
Will the Garden Department and Roads Department investigate—or will this again be conveniently labelled a “natural disaster”?
Mumbai has already witnessed the deadly consequences of negligence. In Chembur, 11-year-old Vihan Srivastav lost his life after a tree fell on a school bus.
Enough excuses.
INVESTIGATE THE ROOT CAUSE. FIX RESPONSIBILITY. TAKE ACTION.
If negligence is established, the contractor and responsible officers must be held accountable.

WHO WILL ANSWER THE PEOPLE?
When citizens start asking uncomfortable questions, silence is NOT an answer.
