Art has always been political, not always a systemic politic but a navigation and negotiation of who you are and who the other is.

Perhaps no where is this choice more minutely reflected than in translation - where entire cultures and peoples must be understood to a world which has no context.

Its not just about what is, but what gets presented.

In this incredibly unsightly essay on Rabindranath Tagore's death anniversary, dissects his literary legacy and his Nobel winning works not as a work of art, but a function of using language to recontextualise his works so that his English audience would understand it better.

Shandilyas deep understanding of linguistics tells us all a little that was lost in translation of perhaps Tagores most quoted poem.

I've always found the rains to be a cozy, reflective, beautiful time. They make me want to curl up, to have hot chai, and hotter coffee, to slurp on ramen and soup, to slow down, to rest, to hibernate, to cuddle, to kiss, to make love, to look up at the sky in joy, smile, and wonder.

To become one with all that is love, and all that is beautiful.

Tag a friend and they have to buy you your favourite hot drink!
