He can be seen each week as the host of, “The Lowdown” on XFINITY COMCAST AFRO Channel 1623 and can be heard on iHeart radio’s “Real Laughs on 104.1”.

James tours clubs and casinos all over the country from Orlando to Las Vegas bringing the funny as part of his mission to make the world laugh.

Juan, a native of Dayton, OH, got his start in music in 1996 when a friend introduced him to Melvin Simmons, then owner of Untamed Records, an indie record label in Newport News, VA. Melvin saw Juan's passion for music, so he took him under his wing and taught him the basics of the industry. Since then, he's worked with numerous independent recording artists in various roles.

In 2014, while watching American Idol, he thought to himself how cool it would be to see rappers and singers competing against each other. Coincidentally, that night, he dreamed of two artists (rapper and singer) competing on-stage. Inspired by the dream, Juan began developing what he called, the "Independent Artist Competition Association (IACA).

In 2021, he registered the "Music-Sports League" as a nonprofit organization. MSL is a nonprofit organization that's dedicated to the development and promotion of independent music through the advancement of Music-Sports. The players of the league are the unsigned recording artists, and their sport is Music Performance Competition Sports (MPCS) as they compete head-to-head in route of winning championships, earn ranking, cash-prizes, and career-advancing opportunities.
