The torch bearer of Kidney Warriors Foundation Mrs.Vasundhara Raghavan voiced her opinions strongly at the 4th Annual Conference of Women In Nephrology; over 300 women across India had joined this meeting to raise their concerns and discuss the solutions needed to fight against Kidney issues. Mrs.Raghavan was felicitated by the committee members for her unprecedented efforts towards the awareness of Kidney Health Issues.

Banerjee and Ajay Gandhi were there during the Ganesh and Kalash Puja. While Aditya Raghavan helped in organising - giving the badam halva a good finish.

ICMR + FSSAI = A Healthier Future! 💪🍽️

In a landmark move, the FSSAI will now officially adopt ICMR-NIN’s definition of HFSS (High in Fat, Sugar, or Salt) foods for the very first time! 🎯

🧠 Why it matters:
These nutrients of concern — salt, sugar & fat — when consumed in excess, increase the risk of diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and more.

📘 Based on the Dietary Guidelines for Indians 2024, the new framework:
✅ Defines what qualifies as HFSS
✅ Sets thresholds for salt, sugar, and fat
✅ Flags many ultra-processed foods (UPFs)
✅ Lays the groundwork for Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labelling (FOPNL)

🛑 INDIA MUST REPLACE HEALTH STARS WITH WARNING LABELS 🛑
“LET CHILDREN SEE THE SUGAR—BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.”

Prime Minister Modi’s appeal to reduce sugar intake among children comes at a critical moment, as India grapples with a junk food epidemic. Dr. Arun Gupta, Pediatrician and Convenor of NAPi, urges the government to reject the flawed Health Star Rating (HSR) system and instead adopt bold, front-of-pack warning labels for High in Sugar, Salt, Fat, or Energy (HFSS) foods.

⚠️ Why? Because:

HSR masks dangers by averaging nutrients.

In Australia, it failed to reduce sugar or fat in products.

In Chile, warning labels led to a 24% drop in sugary drink purchases and rapid product reformulation.

Misleading visuals and stars are exploited by big food brands to market junk as “healthy.”

🔍 The Hon’ble Supreme Court has now directed a final decision within 3 months. This is a historic chance to prioritize public health and empower consumers with the right to know what’s really in their food.

👉 Maggi, Kurkure & many such products deserve 3 warning labels—not 2 or 3 stars.
👉 The PM’s words must now lead to bold policy action, not vague star ratings.

Let us STOP sugarcoating the truth.
Let’s give our children the real information—loud, clear, and honest.
