Things You May Have Missed #6

On 13th February, the Xavier’s Debating and Quizzing Society conducted a discussion on ‘Legalisation of Ma*****na for Recreational Usage’. This was a Student Faculty debate, something that has happened for the past few years and is rapidly becoming an annual tradition.

The faculty, which consisted of professors Kaizeen Jehangir, Rahul Menon and Conrad Cabral, were on the ‘For’ side, while Madhav Ramachandran [TYBSc Life Sciences], Hriday Bradoo [TYBA Economics] and Adway Gupta [TYBSc Physics] were on the ‘Against’ side. This was done for students to look at both sides of the legalization debate, as most pupils tend to look at the benefits of legalization more often.

The faculty side were judged the winner and Hriday won Speaker of the Debate.
