People send me crazy AI fantasy films all the time. Some of it is legit fire too.
Sometimes I ask them, “Yo, if you’re already putting this much effort into spec work, why not try it on a real brief? We pitch it to a client, and if it lands, everybody makes money 💰”
Funny thing is… i rarely find takers for this offer.
Except this guy who actually said yes.
That spec film got us several jobs. One from the same client we pitched.
And guess what? Dude ended up making real money (more then I made in his age), got onto paid projects, and now stays busy with actual client work instead of just posting fantasy specs all day.
And honestly, nothing wrong with fantasy/spec work at all. That stuff’s fun. It pushes creativity.
But real clients usually looking for stuff that connects to actual people, actual products, actual business problems. Not just “this looks cool” vibes.
That’s where strategy comes in. Knowing how to shape the work so a client can actually see themselves in it.
A lotta talented people don’t realize that part yet… and that’s the gap.

New people. 👀
Got an email recently for a car script from a major agency.
Didn’t know ONE person on the chain 😂
And honestly? That was kinda refreshing.
Not because they knew us…
but because we didn't know anyone there 🤝
I asked who recommended us and turns out… didn’t know them either 💀
That’s when it hit me:
As agencies keep changing teams, the whole game resets a little 🔄
New creatives.
New producers.
New account people.
New energy.
And that’s actually great news for production companies.
Cause let’s be real… sometimes certain places felt impossible to crack. Not because your work wasn’t good. Just because people naturally worked with the teams they already trusted.
That’s normal.
But when new people come in, everything opens up again 📩
No old assumptions.
No old baggage.
No “we only work with these guys.”
Just people looking at the work with fresh eyes 👀
So if you felt locked out somewhere before, this might be the time to tap back in.
One new hire can change the whole vibe of a place 😂

Award nahi, reward chahiye 😄
Now that two big award shows are done and dusted, my phone’s been ringing non-stop. Producers calling with that one big question…
“Bro, will awards change that director/producer's fortune?”
Winning metals is not easy. It takes craft, hustle, and a lot of belief to pull something off, especially when the budgets aren’t always in your favour.
At the same time, our industry does work in its own familiar structure:
A-list
B-list
Beauty / Car / Style specialists
And then that “magic” category, where budgets are tight but expectations are Oscar-level.
So when someone from that space wins, it’s a big deal. It deserves to be celebrated.
Now the real question is, what happens next?
Does the phone start ringing with bigger scripts and better budgets?
Not always at the level one would expect after a big win.
If award-winning work consistently translated into more trust, stronger budgets, and better scripts, it would genuinely shift the ecosystem.
You’d see more producers and directors pushing harder for this kind of work, not just for the metal, but for the momentum it brings.
Because awards already prove one thing clearly: the talent is there. The craft is there. The thinking is there.
Now imagine if the back-end matched the front-end.
That’s when awards don’t just sit on shelves or feeds…
They actually start opening doors. 🚀

Some producers give up way too fast, man.

They show up to Goa Fest once, don’t see instant traction, and they’re like “yeah, this ain’t working” and just disappear.

I get it with Cannes. That place will burn a hole in your pocket real quick 🤑🔥

But Goa Fest? You can literally drive down from Mumbai. Low risk, high upside. No excuses.

Last year at Cannes, I met these two young women. Both under 30, running their own agency. I told them straight up, “the real connections? They happen at Goa Fest.”

And sure enough… saw them here this year. That’s how you play it.

Me? I camped out in the CEO lounge like it was my office.

CCOs, clients, decision-makers.

Everyone passes through there. It’s a whole ecosystem.

Are you walking out with a film? Probably not 😂

But you walk out loaded. Knowledge, inside gossip, how people actually crack business, kaun kiske saath khel raha hai… full download milta hai.

And the real win?

Next time you see them, it’s first-name basis. No formalities 😏

You’re not an outsider anymore. You’re in the mix.

That 70K–1 lakh spent?

That’s not an expense… that’s your entry ticket into the room where things actually start moving.

Should producers come to Goa Fest? 🤔🍻

Yeah.
If you in the industry, you should probably know the industry. And ideally… the industry should know you too 😎

Will it guarantee work? Hell nah 😂
But being known definitely helps.

I been coming here 2 years straight now. Been hitting Cannes almost every year for like 15 years. But Cannes be mostly bosses, panels, yachts, and rosé lunch 🥂💀

Goa Fest got a different vibe though.
Cause it’s affordable, you actually meet the people behind the work. Creatives, clients, suits, producers, junior teams, senior teams, people wearing lanyards like Olympic medals 🏅😂

Nothing magical gonna happen to your career in 3 days.
You not coming back with 14 films 😭

But you WILL come back knowing way more people.
And in advertising, that’s basically crypto, gold 💰❤️🤣

Directors out here losing jobs before the pitch even starts… 🤦‍♂️
I was hunting for directors in a certain segment. Asked around, got like 7–8 names. All of them had done a one or two ads in the space. Work was… okay-ish. Nothing crazy. But brands? Big. Budgets? Also big.
So you’re sitting there like… how did these guys even get in the room? 🤔
Like what was the producer thinking passing on solid, proven names and going “yeah let’s go with this guy”?
Turns out… it’s not that deep. It’s just math.
Pitching with a known director these days can burn 50K easy… just on treatment notes. No guarantee, no safety net, nothing. And even with a big name, your odds? Still 50-50 at best. Straight coin toss 🎲
So producers are like… why am I spending big money just to maybe lose?
Instead, they roll with newer or more flexible directors. Lower cost, less pressure, same gamble. If it hits, great. If not, at least you didn’t light 50K on fire 🔥
So yeah… it’s not always about talent anymore. It’s about who’s affordable to try.

Dear directors posting dreamy wedding and spouse pics… please mention “personal work” somewhere.

Clients are already asking:
“Can we get the same stylist?”
“Who was the DOP?”
“Can the bride give same expression but for our detergent film?”

We got this bike tyre film gig 😎🔥
Everything was looking sexy. We flew to Europe ✈️🌍
Director came in all the way from LA 🎬💼
Then… plot twist 🤡
Tyres show up and they skinny AF 💀
But our script? Full savage superbikes 🏍️💨
So jugaad mode ON 🚨
We grabbed fat tyres, painted the brand on the side 🎨😤
Tyre Grooves not matching? No stress… we literally cut the tyres 🔪😂
End result? Film looking clean ✨
Client happy, team happy.
Sab ghar jaake party 🍻😎

An industry member, is going through a serious medical situation and urgently needs a liver transplant. Total cost is around ₹40 lakh.
We don’t even know him personally, but when the message came through, we did what a lot of people did and chipped in. Some folks dropped as much as ₹50K. That’s the industry right there. We might compete all day, but when it matters, we show up like family 🙌
Just putting this out here on our own so more people can see it and help if they want to.
Praying he pulls through strong 🙏
