On 19th of May 2017, our day started at 5:30 am, we had no clue that we could actually start our day this early till we tried and trust me it was worth doing it.
I drove to Pickup Ramesh Servai from Malad Station and then we went to Mahalakshmi to pickup Ninad Savrikar, we all were sleepy and fatigued out but something which drove us was the early morning golden hour and the the beautiful frames waiting for us at Dhobi Ghat. The moment we entered Dhobi Ghat, it felt like we entered a meditation zone. The calm faces of people and filtered rays of sun and the constant sound of water flowing made me feel like the time was slowing down. It was truly an amazing experience to capture the beautiful vibes of Dhobi Ghat.
By 9am we left for our next destination Worli Koliwada. Worli Koliwada is a Fisherman community and it is considered as a Paradise for Street Photographers. Worli Koliwada covers approximately 125 acres of land, This area is in the very heart of one of Mumbai’s most lucrative commercial and residential property zones. Its potential for real estate development seems obvious, but certain immutable market realities have so far saved it from such fate. At the end of its land you can see fisher men fishing and a beautiful fish market with Bandra-Worli Sea Link in the background.
Before we could start our day we all grew hungry, so we took a 20 mins break to relax and eat Vada Pav and by 10am we started walking towards the fish market located on the land's end of Worli Koliwada. While walking through the streets of Koliwada we witnessed small size business stalls like Flower sellers, vegetable sellers, scrap dealers, Dhobi walas wheat mills etc, they were in their own pace and we were still hanging over Dhobi ghat's peaceful meditation mode, the moment we reached the shore we could see he Bandra - Worli Sea Link.
Mumbai’s much loved bridge, Bandra - Worli Sea Link is a ₹16 billion (US$250 million) bridge, it was commissioned by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), and built by the Hindustan Construction Company. The first four of the eight lanes of the bridge were opened to the public on 30 June 2009. All eight lanes were opened on 24 March 2010.
The sea-link reduces travel time between Bandra and Worli during peak hours from 60–90 minutes to 20–30 minutes.
So, the moment we saw this beauty from a different angle we got excited and felt so proud of those who worked so hard to construct this beauty. Alongside where fishermen doing their daily morning chores! it was exciting and at the same time HOT AS HELL as the sun was piercing down at us- well we could have had beer to chill and then continue to do our drill but thought we should just save some for next time..
Moving on to our next location...
