Hyderabad, February 17, 2026 – A special edition of Maeeshat Magazine highlighting the inspiring journey of Mr. Aslam Lashkaria, Chairman & Managing Director of Lashkaria Group was officially released today at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad.

We met in the early 1970s—two slight figures in starched white shirts and grey shorts, fluent in the polished Urdu of the classroom by day and the raw, street-smart Bambaiyya by night. Aslam’s eyes always seemed older than the rest of him; they carried a hunger that unsettled teachers and drew friends like moths to a flame. While others dreamed modestly of becoming carpenters, mechanics, or tour guides, Aslam spoke of money the way mystics speak of the Divine—not with crude greed, but with the quiet certainty of someone who has already glimpsed his destiny. “Paise se sab kuch khareeda ja sakta hai, Aftab,” he would murmur. I, ever the reluctant disciple of Ghalib, would counter, “Haan yaar, magar Ghalib ko paise se nahi khareeda ja sakta.” He would laugh, slap my back, and call me “Monitor ji”—a nickname I have worn ever since like a faded but cherished waistcoat.
