Syed Ansar Ahmed Burney, son of Syed Mukhtar Ahmed Burney of Karachi, Pakistan, was the first man to introduce true human rights in Pakistan over 24 years ago.
In the late 70s he was arrested for speaking against Martial Law. Upon release he founded the "Ansar Burney Welfare Trust". He has so far arranged release of around 20,000 (twenty thousand) persons from mental asylums and mental wards of prisons. These were not mental cases but were kept in these asylums in inhumane conditions by influential persons due to their own vested interests.
Burney has also been successful in tracing out around 100,000 (one hundred thousand) children through his Bureau of Missing Persons who were safely delivered to their families. These include children who were set free from bounded labor camps, child camel jockeys and young girls who had been sold away for prostitution.
It is only for the efforts made by Burney that Gita, the Indian girl who was found unattended two decades back in Pakistan's Wagah railway station is finally coming back to her home in India. He is also putting efforts to send another Indian Salman Ahmed to India.

For the second time in five days, the chaos and clutter on a stretch of Mumbai roads made way on Friday for a donated heart to be speeded across the metropolis from a donor to a recipient - covering 19 km in just 14 minutes.
The heart was harvested from a 63-year old man at MGM Hospital in Vashi in Navi Mumbai, and was taken to Fortis Hospital in Mulund in north-east Mumbai, to be transplanted to a 29-year-old recipient.
Mumbai and Navi Mumbai traffic police authorities collaborated to create a 'green corridor' and enable the donated organ to reach its destination in the shortest possible time.
A heart transplant must take place within four hours of the harvest, and sooner the better.
Mumbai Police swung into action along with Navi Mumbai counterparts after the request for making suitable arrangements at around 3.45 am on Friday

Falguni Devi died due to lack of treatment as their village was too far from the town and the mountain was a barrier. Grief stricken Dashrath Manjhi decided to take up the impossible task of carving a road through the mountain. Many at that time laughed at him and said that Manjhi has gone mad. Undeterred by the taunts he continued hammering the mountain and carved a 360 ft long road with a width of 30ft and finally after 22 years of hard labour he made the impossible, possible.
The story of Dashrath Manjhi, has been crafted for the silver screen by renowned filmmaker Ketan Mehta in his film 'Manjhi' to be released on August 21. The role of Dashrath Manjhi is being played by Nawazuddin Siddique and Radhika Apte is acting against him.
Dashrath Manjhi did what others thought to be impossible. He showed that true love still exist in this world. Taj Mahal is an wonder, a symbol of love, but Manjhi is no less.
The film has already been made tax free by the Bihar government.
It can be mentioned that Manjhi's name was earlier recommended by the Bihar government for Padmashri, however he was not conferred the title.
Dashrath Manjhi died of cancer of gall bladder on Aug 17, 2007. He was given a State funeral.

Prof Anup Surendranath, Deputy Registrar of Supreme Court quits over judgement on Yakub Memon.

Prof Surendranath said that the two decisions within a span of hours are instances of "judicial abdication" that should count among the "darkest hours" of the apex court.

He resigned on July 30, the day Memon was hanged following rejection of his (Memon's) last minute plea.
