On 28th September, Kanhaiya Kumar joined the Indian National Congress, saying he's, joining India's most democratic party (he stresses on democratic in the press conference) because of Congress doesn't survive, the country won't either.

It has been widely regarded as a strategy by the Indian National Congress to showcase a strong youth icon in preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and establish relevance among the youth. Rahul Gandhi cannot be established as the youth icon of the party as it battles allegations of familialism and nepotism.

Inside sources have claimed that it has been Rahul Gandhi's plan to induct Kanhaiya Kumar into the INC since 2016 during the JNU row seeing how his speeches deeply impacted the youth.

It remains to be seen how much impact Kumar creates in the party, and if this decision can boost the Congress' dwindling presence in the country.

Earlier this month, North Korea published the success of the long-range testing of cruise missiles. A few hours later, they also test-launched ballistic missiles. As reported by South Korea and Japan, the missiles landed in Japan's exclusive economic waters but outside the territorial waters. Hours after he was asked to step down as the Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday resigned from the post. He met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and handed him his resignation letter, Amarinder’s son Ravinder Singh tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Congress high command Sonia Gandhi was learnt to have asked Amarinder to step down to facilitate the election of a new leader. The Chief Minister, however, refused to give in. Sources said Amarinder spoke to Sonia this morning and told her he would rather resign from the party than face such “humiliation”. The state goes to the polls early next year.
