The love between a brother and sister hasn't become smaller.

So why have our rakhis?

Remember those giant foam rakhis that covered half the wrist?

The glitter. The golden frills. The loud colors. The oversized "मेरे भैया."

They weren't trying to be elegant.

They were proudly saying, "Yeh mere bhai ki hai."

This Raksha Bandhan, let's bring back big emotions and even bigger rakhis.

Yahan par toh minimalistic mat hona, bhaiyon aur behno. ❤️

Back then, we hardly had any way to know if tomorrow was a holiday.

We knew the big festivals, but the unexpected holidays were the real thrill.

The moment the peon entered with the Notice Book, the whole class started guessing.

"Teachers' training?"

"Voting day?"

Sometimes it was because all the teachers had a workshop. Sometimes it was because an old leader or a retired teacher had passed away.

As kids, we didn't understand the reason as much as we understood one sentence...

"Kal chhutti hai."

That one announcement could light up the entire classroom.
