MLA Parag Shah Urges Reconsideration of HC Ban on Feeding Pigeons in Mumbai

Mumbai BJP MLA Parag Shah has expressed deep anguish over the Bombay High Court’s recent ban on feeding pigeons in the city, calling the decision "painful and inhumane." He stated that pigeons, long seen as symbols of peace and innocence, are being punished despite no medical reports linking them to fatalities.

Appealing to the BMC and the Maharashtra government, Shah urged a reconsideration of the decision, emphasizing that protecting voiceless creatures is a moral and cultural duty. If the ban cannot be reversed, he offered to personally fund the creation of at least 50 designated feeding zones for pigeons, spending ₹2–10 crore, and committing to provide dedicated staff for their maintenance and monitoring.

“Feeding these speechless beings is not just compassion — it is dharma,” he said.
