No name on Google Maps, no crowds compared to Bled — just clear water, cliff jumps, and locals who’ve been coming here their whole lives.

I’m not going to make it easy to find. But if you’re already in the Soča Valley, ask around — you’ll know it when you see it.

I genuinely had no idea this was here.

Hidden in the forest near Vršič Pass in Slovenia is the Russian Chapel, built in memory of Russian prisoners of war who died while constructing the mountain road during WWI.

In 1916, a huge avalanche struck the area, killing many of the prisoners working on the pass.

Today, this little wooden chapel sits quietly among the trees as a memorial to them.

I came here expecting beautiful views of the Julian Alps… and ended up discovering a piece of history I knew nothing about.

And honestly, that’s one of my favourite things about travelling. You can visit somewhere because it looks beautiful and leave knowing a story you’ll actually remember.

One thing I love about living in Slovenia is getting to experience moments like this 🇸🇮

Traditional Slovenian music, dancing and clothing — right here in Bled.

I’ve spent months exploring this country and somehow it still keeps showing me something new.

This is the side of travelling I love most — actually getting to experience the culture of the place you’re in.

Everyone told me Potica would be better than Bled Cream Cake… so I had to try it.

Maybe I picked the wrong one, but for me it was a 5/10. 😅 The pistachio version was definitely my favourite, but the traditional walnut and honey Potica just wasn’t for me.

Am I completely wrong? Which flavour should I try before I leave Slovenia?

This is the traditional pletna boat, one of Lake Bled’s most famous experiences. It takes you across to Bled Island, where you can explore at your own pace before heading back.

I have to admit… it felt like a pretty unique way to experience the lake.
