What an incredible journey this project has been for past two months. Starting for preparing in January to executing it in February. Multiple schedule changes, location changes, working in incredibly tight budget, hiccups, confusions and finally getting it done in the absolutely beautiful way.
Massimiliano Bulgheroni, the director and producer, whose brainchild of a project got me excited as the locations chosen were in Ujjain, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Bodh Gaya. For logistical reasons, Bihar was dropped out and Jhansi was added at the end, making the shoot happen in Ujjain, Prayagraj, Sakin village of Jhansi and Varanasi.
Remotely managed shoot in Varanasi where on ground were filmmaker Priscilla Purusha Anokhei, and ground fixer Sandeep Bharadwaj. It was his incredible genius willpower that got the shoot done in the most crowded of streets and challenging logistics.
Tushar Kangarkar on sound and on-ground production supervision, Rohit Lowashi on drone (kudos to his spirit) and Vishal Yadav on AC, helped enormously in the remaining cities. All I was doing was micromanaging from Mumbai. And although I couldn’t experience Kumbh physically, I could still feel the tension crew was going through.
Rollercoaster ride this was. But it was all worth it.
