His name was Max. For many years, the little dog had been curled up in the corner of the camp, silently watching the others being led away, doors opening and closing, while he remained. He didn’t understand why no one had chosen him, he could only wait in silence, wait until he almost gave up hope.
Then one day, everything changed. A gentle hand, a warm look, a door opening to a new world. But after so many winters behind bars, Max still couldn’t believe it was real. He looked around, hesitant, as if wondering: “Will I be able to stay this time? Will they abandon me again?”
Today, he gently placed his paws on my hand, his eyes both hopeful and fearful. I wanted to whisper to him: “This is my home now. No one will abandon me again. I can sleep peacefully, tomorrow morning there will still be someone who loves me.”
Dogs like Max remind us that with love and patience, even the deepest wounds can heal.
