C. Joseph Vijay (born 22 June 1974), popularly known as Vijay or Thalapathy Vijay, is an Indian actor-turned- politician and the founder of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The son of film director S. A. Chandrasekhar and singer Shoba Chandrasekhar, he rose to prominence as one of Tamil cinema’s leading actors before entering politics. A press note from TVK general secretary N.Anand said this follows the party founder president Vijay giving the nod to Mr. Nehru’s request for fighting the April 9elections as part of the TVK alliance. Mr.Nehru had launched his regional party in October, 2025 pledging to safeguard the rights of the people and to fight for securing Statehood Subsequently, the TVK, which had only the other day announced candidates for all 30 Assembly constituencies in the Union Territory, reallocated Orleanpet and Thattanchavady to the NMK.Interestingly, though Mr. Nehru, a sitting MLA of the Orleanpet constituency, was among the Independents who had lent support to the AINRC-BJP government under Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, he had not shied away from attacking the NDA and stirring controversies. He once gatecrashed a State- event to protest “tardy progress” of Smart City projects and on another occasion created a flutter by wheeling a trader injured in an attack by miscreants on a stretcher to the premises of the Raj Nivas to denounce the assault and the denial of proper medical care
