More than a hundred Nagpur residents stranded in Nepal after the flash floods have returned home safely.
These citizens endured a horrendous two days without food supplies before they were able to establish contact with the Maharashtra state government. After CM Devendra Fadnavis personally spoke to these citizens, special buses were arranged to bring them back to India via Bihar.

Speaking at a lecture in the city, retited Supreme Court Judge Justice Abhay Oka stated that the judiciary should not be treated as a “holy cow” beyond public scrutiny.
Quoting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s warning that hero-worship leads to dictatorship, he emphasized that blind reverence undermines constitutional democracy.
Justice Oka highlighted structural challenges including delays, inadequate funds, and judge shortages, stressing that judicial independence requires constitutional accountability, not immunity.

Two months after tribal woman Sangeeta Gedam died following childbirth when an ambulance reportedly could not reach her remote hamlet, residents of Ghodankappi in Jiwti taluka have begun building their own road.

On World Tribal Day, villagers, led by Sangeeta’s husband Tulsiram Gedam, started improving the 1.5-km rocky stretch connecting the hamlet to the main road. Nearly half the work has been completed through voluntary labour. Ghodankappi has around 20 households and lacks a motorable road, making emergencies particularly difficult.

Tulsiram said he decided to act after losing his wife, hoping no other family faces a similar tragedy.

For generations, artisans have kept the 200 year old tradition alive at Chitar Oli, where they have turned simple clay into Ganpati, giving each idol its own character through hours of patient handwork.

In a city that keeps changing, these workshops are a reminder of the traditions that still give Nagpur its character.
