17-Year-Old Boy Detained at IG Park During Prime Minister’s Visit

ITANAGAR β€” A 17-year-old boy, was detained by police at Indira Gandhi Park (IG Park) in Itanagar on Monday during the Prime Minister’s official visit to Arunachal Pradesh.

According to sources, the teenager was taken into custody after allegedly waving a black flag and displaying a banner that carried a message of protest. Eyewitnesses claimed the boy was swiftly apprehended by security personnel and escorted away from the park premises as the Prime Minister’s program was underway.

The police have not yet released an official statement detailing the charges or the circumstances of the detention. However, concerns have been raised over the treatment of the minor, as he is under the age of 18 and falls within the ambit of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Local voices on social media quickly drew attention to the incident, with some questioning whether the boy’s act was an expression of dissent or a security breach. Civil society members have urged authorities to ensure that due legal procedures are followed and that the rights of the minor are protected.

As of this report, it remains unclear whether a formal case has been registered, what legal sections may apply, and whether the youth has been released to his guardians or placed in juvenile custody.

NAHARLAGUN β€” The family members of Nabam Mangha, who was detained yesterday for allegedly assaulting two on-duty doctors at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun, today held a press briefing to share their side of the story.

According to the family, Mangha’s sister had been admitted to TRIHMS for a minor pile surgery, but her condition has since worsened. They alleged that the negligence of doctors and medical staff was the primary cause of her deteriorating health.

The relatives told the media that the shocking incident which escalated into a confrontation was a result of their mounting frustration over the hospital’s alleged lapses. They described their sister’s present state as β€œdevastating,” and accused TRIHMS authorities of failing to provide timely and proper treatment.

Yesterday’s incident triggered statewide protests by doctors across Arunachal Pradesh, who shut down OPD services in solidarity with the assaulted medical staff. The standoff has further fueled tensions between the medical fraternity and the public.

OPD Services Shut Down Across Arunachal Pradesh Hospitals Following TRIHMS Incident

ITANAGAR β€” In the aftermath of yesterday’s shocking incident at TRIHMS Naharlagun, where two doctors on duty were assaulted, hospitals across Arunachal Pradesh have fully shut down their Outpatient Department (OPD) services starting today.

The move comes following an official joint press release issued by the TRIHMS Faculty Association, Indian Medical Association (Arunachal Branch), Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association, and the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (Arunachal Pradesh Branch). The associations announced a 48-hour shutdown of all hospital services (both government and private) across the state, beginning from 8:00 AM on September 12, 2025, as the first phase of agitation to protest against the brutal attack on doctors.

While emergency services will remain operational, routine hospital services, including OPDs, stand completely suspended.

This video footage from RK Mission Hospital, Itanagar, shows the closure of OPD services, reflecting the united protest of the medical fraternity. Video source: Concerned Citizen.

Furthermore, reports suggest that the matter will shortly be conveyed to the public through a press briefing by the TRIHMS Faculty Association. The associations have already submitted a memorandum to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, seeking immediate redressal of long-pending issues and demanding a safe, congenial work atmosphere for healthcare professionals.

Further course of action will depend on the government’s response.

7-Day Ultimatum! ANYA Demands TRIHMS Director’s Ouster or 12-Hour Capital Bandh

ITANAGAR β€” In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing discontent surrounding Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), the Arunachal Pradesh Youth Association (ANYA) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the state government demanding the immediate removal of the TRIHMS Director.

The demand comes to light following the untimely demise of a patient at TRIHMS, which has sparked outrage and questions over alleged medical negligence. The situation further intensified today when TRIHMS faculty staged a dharna in protest against an alleged attack on two doctors, as well as over controversial remarks made by the Director that many have condemned as insensitive and unbecoming of a leader of a premier health institution.

ANYA alleged gross negligence, administrative failure, and a breakdown of trust between the institute’s leadership, medical staff, and the public. The association warned that if their demand is not met within the stipulated timeframe, they will enforce a 12-hour Capital Complex bandh to press for justice.

Addressing a press conference, ANYA leaders accused the Director of failing to provide effective leadership and accountability. β€œWe will not tolerate inefficiency and irresponsible behavior in such a vital health institution. If the Director is not removed, we will be compelled to take stronger democratic steps,” an ANYA spokesperson declared.

Meanwhile, the state government has not issued an official response to the ultimatum, but sources suggest that high-level discussions are underway to defuse the situation.

As the deadline approaches, the Capital Complex braces for possible disruptions, with citizens hoping the government will intervene swiftly to prevent further unrest.
