NAHARLAGUN, 1 Jul: A drone port on the rooftop of the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) was inaugurated on Tuesday by TRIHMS Director Dr. Moji Jini, in the presence of Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. D. Raina, Arunachal Pradesh Space Application Centre (APSAC) Director Dr. H. Dutta, Joint Director Dr. Liagi Tajo, Deputy Director Neylam Tath, Deputy Director Chau Ken Manlong, and other dignitaries.

The drone port has been established as part of APSACโ€™s initiative to set up drone ports across the state, with the capacity to operate and host dronesโ€”whether vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) or short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraftโ€”along with essential infrastructure for storage and maintenance.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jini appreciated the APSAC team for establishing the drone port, stating that it will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely delivery of medicines, anti-venom, and even human organs during emergencies to various parts of the state.

ITANAGAR ||JUNE 30,2025
The Capital Police have arrested a 35-year-old man, Md. Salam Khureshi, for cheating a woman, blackmailing her, and using private videos to threaten her.

A 33-year-old woman from Ziro Point, Itanagar, had filed a police complaint on June 4, 2025. She said the accused started a relationship with her in 2018 by pretending to be an unmarried Marwari man from Delhi. But later, she found out that he was actually a married Muslim man with a child.

When the woman tried to end the relationship, the man started blackmailing her using private photos and videos, which he had secretly recorded. She also said he mentally harassed her and made threats.

The case was taken up by the Women Police Station, Itanagar, under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Police officer SI Bamang Yakum led the investigation. After searching for him through technical means, police found the man hiding in Sonari, Charaideo District, Assam, and arrested him on June 30.

The Capital Police said they are serious about stopping online blackmail and crimes against women. They also encouraged people to report such crimes without fear.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested in Itanagar following serious allegations of repeated sexual assault and harassment made by a 20-year-old domestic worker from Goju Village under Bordumsa Circle in Changlang district.

According to police, the woman had been working for the accusedโ€™s family in the IG Park area of Itanagar for the past two years. In her written complaint, she alleged that she was repeatedly r***d and harassed by the male member of the household during her employment. Despite her resistance and appeals, the abuse allegedly continued and was accompanied by threats. On the night of May 29, 2025, she was reportedly assaulted again and forcefully sent back to her village in a distressed state.

A Zero FIR was registered at Bordumsa Police Station on June 13, and the case was immediately transferred to Women Police Station, Itanagar, where it was converted into a regular case (Case No. 44/2025) under Sections 64(F), 75, 76, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The accused, Akom Yomto Dango, a resident of IG Park, Itanagar, and originally from Laigi village, Upper Subansiri, has been arrested in connection with the case. Police confirmed that the survivorโ€™s statement has been recorded and she is receiving legal aid and counselling through Aneโ€™s Home, a support shelter at the Women Police Station.

Authorities stated that this case highlights the importance of Zero FIR and the new criminal law reforms, which enable quick legal action regardless of where the complaint is filed.

Further investigation is ongoing.

New Delhi, June 28
Senior IPS officer Parag Jain, from the 1989 Punjab cadre, has been appointed as the new Chief of RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) โ€” Indiaโ€™s top external intelligence agency.

Tawang, 28 June 2025 โ€” Arunachal Pradesh is all set to achieve a major milestone in infrastructure development with the construction of its first-ever stay-cable bridge over the Tawang Chu River in Tawang district.

The bridge is being built by the Public Works Department (PWD) along the Lhouโ€“Mukto road, a critical stretch in the border region. The structure will be a 65-meter long steel-composite stay-cable bridge, the first of its kind in the state.

Once completed, the bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity in the Indo-China border region, making travel smoother and safer for both civilians and the armed forces. It will ensure all-weather access to remote areas, which are often cut off during heavy rains or snowfall.

This new bridge is part of a larger push by the state government to improve road, tunnel, and telecom infrastructure in border districts like Tawang. Other major projects in the region include the Sela Tunnel, which opened in early 2024, and new road links under the Trans-Arunachal Highway.

Officials say the bridge is currently under construction and is progressing steadily. Once completed, it will stand as a symbol of progress and strategic strength in one of Indiaโ€™s most remote and sensitive regions.

A major recruitment controversy at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) has led to judicial intervention, with the Gauhati High Court stepping in to restore fairness in the appointment process for the post of Assistant Professor in Biochemistry.

The case centres around Dr. Phari Dajangju, a qualified candidate who was placed first on the waiting list after the selection process. However, the job was given to E. Sruti, whose appointment has since been called into question due to allegations of ineligibility and nepotism.

In August 2024, Dr. Dajangju filed a formal complaint alleging that Sruti did not meet the National Medical Commission (NMC) eligibility requirements. Furthermore, he claimed that her document verification was conducted by her husband, Dr. S. Nageswara Rao, who is also the Head of the Biochemistry Department at TRIHMS โ€” a clear case of conflict of interest.

The complaint was submitted to the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) and also forwarded to the Chief Ministerโ€™s Office, demanding an impartial inquiry and appropriate action.

Following the complaint, the Health & Family Welfare Commissioner, who also chairs the TRIHMS Executive Committee, conducted a review. In October 2024, the department took corrective steps:

โœ… Cancelled Srutiโ€™s appointment

โœ… Ordered a fresh advertisement for the post

โœ… Sought clarification from the National Medical Commission regarding eligibility norms

This was seen as a significant move acknowledging administrative failure in the selection process.

The case eventually reached the Gauhati High Court, which delivered its verdict on 27 June 2025.

The Court upheld the Health Departmentโ€™s decision, stating that cancellation of Srutiโ€™s appointment was valid due to her ineligibility and the conflict of interest involved. The Court further directed the Health Department to consider appointing Dr. Phari Dajangju, as he was the next eligible candidate on the list.
