Hon’ble Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay today joined the nationwide launch of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign for girls aged 14 years, inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conference, and formally launched the HPV vaccination drive in Sikkim.
The landmark initiative aims to benefit approximately 1.15 crore girls annually across all States and Union Territories, marking a major step toward the prevention of cervical cancer and the promotion of women’s health. The vaccine will be administered free of cost at designated Government health facilities to ensure equitable and inclusive access.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister urged the public to actively spread awareness about the importance of HPV vaccination, encouraging families to support eligible girls in availing this free preventive healthcare service and to help dispel misconceptions for a healthier future.
